I Can t Really Teach Music This CPD session is intended for KS1 curriculum teachers who lack confidence in teaching music. Led by KS1 music education specialist, Fiona Kenward, this session is designed to build confidence and provide dozens of practical ideas and activities which can be used straight away in the classroom. Fiona will help to explore the inter-related dimensions of music with instruments, singing, experimental play, composition and basic rhythm reading. 6

The session is designed to boost your confidence teaching whole-class instrumental lessons and provide you with tips and tricks to use in your own teaching, as well as how to use the new MusicPlus framework, observe and reflect on successful lessons and share good practice. There will be two more opportunities to attend Introduction to MusicPlus at our conferences - see page 4. Discover ways to improve singing in the classroom to support your MusicPlus lessons and vocal ensembles. Explore leadership techniques, learn how to teach new repertoire and how to sing in a healthy way. Please bring your favourite song or warm up to share with others in the group. 7

Experience first hand different approaches to rehearsing music and learn how to bring it to performance readiness. Instruments on display will range from bespoke technology including Skoog, Beamz and ipads, as well as hackable music tech such as BBC Microbit and Raspberry Pi. The focus will be on how technology can be used to increase inclusion in music lessons and promote musical expression and creativity.
