23 Jan 2018 3 COSTUME DESIGNER The Costume Designer is responsible for designing all of costumes & costume props and supervising all phases of the creation of the costumes Create an artistically successful costume design that will be presented to the public Collaborate with the Director and Designers in creating the costume design Create the design by the due date, well in advance of the first day of the build, so the Costume Shop Supervisor can purchase or obtain necessary materials and supplies to realize the design Assist the Costume Shop Supervisor in the construction of costumes and instruction & supervision of student assistants Attend production meetings, rehearsals, tech/dress rehearsals, and strike Attend several rehearsals to determine if modifications to the design are required Create drawings, renderings, or other similar visual aids to convey the costume design to the Director and other Designers Create a costume plot Create a costume props list Participate in scheduled costume shop work days Consult with the faculty/staff mentor about purchasing material for the design Complete all preparatory work before the first dress rehearsal Entire rehearsal and performance period, including pre-rehearsal period Daily work in the Costume Shop preparing the design SCENIC DESIGNER The Scenic Designer is responsible for the overall set design of the production (including painting of the settings), props, and the supervision of their creation Collaborate with the Director and Designers to create an artistically successful scenic design that will be presented to the public Create ground plans, elevations, and other such drawings that will assist the Technical Director and Scene Shop Supervisor in realizing the scenic design Deliver to the Technical Director and Scene Shop Supervisor complete design drawings by the design due date, well in advance of the build period. This should be done far enough in advance to give the Technical Director and Scene Shop Supervisor adequate time to prepare construction drawings and gather construction materials for the first day of the build. Create a scale model of the scenery that allows the Director, Performers, and Designers to visualize the settings for each scene Attend production meetings, rehearsals, crew watch, shift rehearsals, tech/dress rehearsals, and strike Bring drawings, plans, etc. to the Production Meetings Collaborate with the Technical Director and Scene Shop Supervisor in the creation of the scenic elements

This entails acting as the Paint Charge and instructing assistants in the proper techniques for painting the scenic elements Create paint elevations Assist the Technical Director and Scene Shop Supervisor during load-in and strike of the scenery Attend several rehearsals to determine of adjustments are needed to the scenic design Participate in scheduled Scene Shop work calls Complete all preparatory work before the first technical rehearsal Entire rehearsal and performance period, including pre-rehearsal period Daily work in the Scene Shop to aid the Technical Director and Scene Shop Supervisor in the creation of the scenery and props LIGHTING DESIGNER Collaborate with the Director and Designers to create an artistically successful lighting design that will be presented to the public Use the Scenic Designer s plans to create a light plot for use by the Master Electrician and Stage Manager Create a lighting plot and other technical drawings by the due date Create sketches, drawings, or other such visual presentations to inform the Director and Designers of the Lighting Design Create an instrument schedule and hook-up sheet Attend production meetings, rehearsals, crew watch, tech/dress rehearsals, and strike Attend all Production Meetings; bring drawings, plans, etc to the Production Meetings With the Master Electrician, oversee the installation of the lighting design Complete all preparatory work before the first technical rehearsal Instruct the Stage Manager and Light Board Operator in the execution of the lighting cues Attend several rehearsals to determine if adjustments are needed to the lighting design

23 Jan 2018 5 SOUND DESIGNER Create an artistically successful sound design that will be presented to the public Create and/or gather appropriate sound effects and music to be used during the performance Attend several rehearsals to consult with the Director about potential sound cues Instruct the Stage Manager, Sound Engineer, and Sound Board Operator on cueing and other aspects of executing the sound design Create at least two back-up sources of the sound design and keep them at the theatre Attend production meetings, rehearsals, crew watch, tech/dress rehearsals, and strike Collaborate with the Lighting Designer in the coordination of the sound & light cues Set volume levels, EQ, balance, and other such attributes of the sound design Install the sound cues onto the sound playback system TECHNICAL TEAM TECHNICAL DIRECTOR The Technical Director is responsible for the organization, planning, and supervision of the technical aspects of the production, particularly, the scenic elements Use Scenic Designer's plans, drawings, and models to create the scenic elements Develop a complete and accurate budget Create a work schedule that will allow all construction elements to be complete and installed before the first Technical Rehearsal Supervise the implementation of the construction schedule by overseeing the construction, rigging, painting, and assembly of the set Create accurate construction drawings, order material, and control inventories of equipment and resources Collaborate with the Scenic Designer, Director, and others Attend production meetings, rehearsals, crew watch, shift rehearsals, tech/dress rehearsals, and strike Participate in scheduled scene shop work calls Complete all preparatory work before the first technical rehearsal Significant pre-production preparations

Assist the Technical Director in creating plans and work schedules Oversee and instruct students workers Attend production meetings, rehearsals, crew watch, shift rehearsals, tech/dress rehearsals, and strike Participate in scheduled scene shop work calls Complete all preparatory work before the first technical rehearsal Significant pre-production preparations ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Assist the Director in all aspects of preparing an artistically successful production Perform all reasonable tasks requested by the Director and other members of the production team Attend production meetings, rehearsals, crew watch, tech/dress rehearsals, and strike Be prepared to conduct rehearsals in the absence of the Director Be prepared to perform the duties of the Stage Manager in the SM s absence STAGE MANAGER Meet with the Director to discuss your duties in the rehearsal & performance process Read the play and become thoroughly familiar with it Familiarize yourself with the duties and responsibilities of other members of the production team Distribute scripts to the cast and designers Schedule rehearsals (in conjunction with the Director and Designers) Create and distribute daily rehearsal reports Maintain daily contact with the Designers and Shop Supervisors Create and maintain the Prompt Book to include at least: Cast, Crew, and Production Staff list and contact information Action chart (supplied by the Director) Blocking notes with diagrams Rehearsal and performance schedules Attendance records Costume fittings schedule

The Paint Charge Artist is also responsible for special three-dimensional texturing with foams, adhesives, etc. Collaborate with the Set Designer to determine the best techniques for executing the paint elevations In collaboration with the Scenic Designer, mix and store paint Manage the stock of paint and supplies; report any needs to the staff Scene Shop Supervisor Daily work on painting scenic elements and supervising assistants Complete all preparatory work before the first technical rehearsal Attend crew watch, tech/dress rehearsals, and strike Participate in scheduled paint work calls Daily work in the Scene Shop painting and preparing scenic elements for painting PROPERTIES MASTER Collaborate with the Scenic Designer and Director to determine what props are required for the production Assist the Scenic Designer as requested in the research of period props Collaborate with the staff Technical Director and Scene Shop Supervisor about inhouse construction of prop elements Manage the construction of properties elements Research sources for the purchase of props Travel to in-town sources for props (e.g., antiques stores, automotive junk yards, etc.) Attend production meetings, crew watch, shift rehearsals, tech/dress rehearsals, and strike Mentor the Props Crew Head in the use, care, and maintenance of props Deliver rehearsal props to the Stage Manager as soon as possible in the rehearsal process Complete all work before the first technical rehearsal Participate in scheduled scene shop work calls
