Electronic Presentation Must be an electronic presentation PowerPoint Prezi (http://prezi.com/) Any other program that produces similar results. I must be able to read it on my computer. So save it to a flash drive or email it to me. Check with me ahead of time if you will have computer issues.
Oral Presentation You will have 5 minutes. I will cut you off, so be prepared to say what you need to say. This is a summary of your research. Your electronic presentation will have more information. You do not need to show your full electronic presentation during this time.
Electronic Presentation This will contain all your research. Show me that you answered your research question. You must cite your sources in each slide. Including images. You must have a title slide with your name and period You must write your research topic with your research question on your second slide. You will be graded on neatness and aesthetic quality. MAKE IT LOOK GOOD Copy your sources on the last slide as a Works Cited slide (just take the sources off of your annotated bibliography.
How to Cite for this presentation You need to cite where you found the information in your presentation and also your images. Information as long as the thought is not yours you have to cite where you got the information from. Otherwise you are plagiarizing. To cite your information: In parenthesis, after the information, you need to put the last name of the author. If there is no name you need to put the title of the work. To cite an image put the link of the original website (google images is not a website) Make your citations small to not distract from your presentation, but able to read (12 pt is fine)

Advice for good presentations Don t use color schemes that are hard on the eyes. Don t put bright yellow on bright pink. Images: Good quality Don t stretch and distort Don t put text over an image that you can t read Don t just have a slide with a whole jumble of images Don t put too much information on one slide. Spread it out over multiple slides if you need to. Don t get carried away with animations, transitions, or sounds. You don t need these things to have a good presentation. Often they are just annoying.
Advice for good presentations Keep your layout simple and easy to follow. Keep your presentation uniform or make each slide similar. Don t get crazy with different fonts and colors on each slide. Don t use hard to read fonts or silly fonts. The font should fit the mood. Bad Idea: My dog Got hit by a Car and died today. Bad Idea: Cancer is a horrible disease that kills every day Also make your font large enough to read. (18 point 20 point 24 point 28 point) PROOFREAD GRAMMAR AND SPELLING COUNT This a FORMAL presentation no slang don t get cute

EXAMPLES What is done correctly in the following slides?
THE QUESTION OF SUICIDE To be, or not to be--that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune Or to take arms against a sea of troubles And by opposing end them. To die, to sleep No more--and by a sleep to say we end The heartache, and the thousand natural shocks That flesh is heir to. 'Tis a consummation Devoutly to be wished. (Hamlet - William Shakespeare) Use of metaphors the slings and arrows arms against a sea of troubles Introduces the comparison of sleep to death Sleep is no more than just similar to death Introduction of parallel structure To be, or not to be To die, to sleep
THE AUTHOR S MOTIVATION In explaining how he came to write Animal Farm, Orwell says he once saw a little boy whipping a horse: It struck me that if only such animals became aware of their strength we should have no power over them, and that men exploit animals in much the same way as the rich exploit the [worker]. Orwell said it was the first book in which he consciously tried to blend artistic and political goals.
