THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING {EVERYBODY HAS A STORY} How it effects each of us is a matter of Choice Your Choice. Every day we can make a choice to have a good day or bad day. It is that simple.

HISTORY BACKS THE POWER OF POSITIVE WORDS Jesus answered, It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you they are full of the Spirit and life. John 6:63

EMAIL RECEIVED The story of John s good mood. (Attached in Appendix) Don s Story

THE VOICE Most of us inherit or learn to use a negative voice inside of our heads. We have to work to quiet their babbles. There are four main voices: v The Worrier v The Perfectionist v The Critic v The Victim

BRAIN REFRAMING Once you recognize your voice, you can change those negative internal dialogues and replace them with positive counter statements. Practice Practice Practice Practice Find a partner /friend/colleague to work with. Pay attention to your thoughts.

WWW.AJOKEADAY.COM v A dog thinks: Hey, these people I live with, feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm dry house, pet me, and take good care of me They must be Gods! v A cat thinks: Hey, these people I live with, feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm dry house, pet me, and take good care of me I must be a God!

LAUGHTER v History, traditions, and experience all teach us that humor has great health value. v A merry heart does good like a medicine, and a broken spirit dries the bones. (Proverbs 17:22) v Frame your mind to mirth and merriment, which bars a thousand harms and lengthens life. (Shakespeare, Taming of the Shrew)

TESTING HUMOR

THE GLASS To be an optimist the glass is half full. To be a pessimist the glass is half empty. To be a good tester the glass is twice as big as it needs to be!

PHYSICAL BENEFITS OF LAUGHTER v Boosts immunity v Lowers Stress Hormones v Decreases Pain v Relaxes Your Muscles v Prevents Heart Disease

SILLY JOKES How many DTC s does it take to change a light bulb?

SILLY JOKES Well first of all you can t just go changing a light bulb just like that without proper planning and assessment.

No light bulb changing services can be provided without identification. How do we know the light bulb needs to be changed until we determine the appropriate disability category and learning problem? We must of course test each light bulb with a series of norm and criterion-referenced tests. Next comes placement. Oh.Before placement you must develop an initial IEP.

A STORY OF TESTING Test Administrator: SAY DIRECTIONS "Today you will be eating a donut. Remove all materials from your desk except a No. 2 napkin. If you do not have a No. 2 napkin, please raise your hand and I ll give one to you. Hand out napkins to the students.

Hand out the donuts to the students. The only materials on your desk should be your No. 2 napkin and your glazed Krispy Kreme disk-shaped donut with a hole in the middle. Look at the hole in the middle of your donut. We need to be sure the hole is in the proper place and that there are no missing or upside down holes. Starting with the right side of your donut, check all the way around your donut until you get to the right side of your donut again. If there are any problems, raise your hand. If not, put the donut down and sit quietly.

Do not eat anyone else s donut! Make loud slurping sounds Look at another person s donut Have napkins other than No.2 napkins Have electronic or recording devices even if you do not use them.

Please raise your hand if you have any questions. When you have finished your donut and licked your fingers, put your napkin in the trashcan. Then you must sit and stare at everyone until they are finished.

Please raise your hand if you have any questions. Remember, you have 10 minutes to eat your donut. I will tell you when you have 2 minutes left. You may begin eating." Authored by Tammy Beauchamp Cohen

WRITING TRASH Also called Morning Pages (Julia Cameron) Write your morning thoughts continuously in a journal for 20 minutes without stopping. Are you upset about something? Are you feeling irritable? Is something great happening? Do you feel sluggish?
