Time Traveller Synopses Logline A 'Back To The Future'-obsessed traveller boy strives to finish building his own DeLorean replica before his family are evicted from their halting site. Brief Synopsis With the McDonagh family facing eviction from their halting site at the end of the week, Back To The Future -obsessed MARTIN (10) is only concerned with one thing finishing building his own DeLorean replica from an old banger and scrap metal. His father JOHN PAUL has bigger concerns and hurtfully dismisses Martin s pet project. Martin then experiences firsthand the discrimination travellers are subjected to from a settled family he encounters while out collecting scrap. John Paul catches his confused and upset son attempting to destroy the car and the two reconcile, instead teaming up to put the finishing touches to Martin s DeLorean. They take it for a victory lap around the field and pack up the next day with a stronger bond than ever. Long Synopsis The McDonaghs are being evicted from their halting site at the end of the week. While father JOHN PAUL worries about the family s future, his youngest son, MARTIN (10) is only concerned with one thing finishing building his own replica of the car from his favourite movie - Back To The Future. Using an old banger and bits of scrap, Martin has painstakingly recreated the DeLorean s every detail. His work is nearly complete but he is devastated when John Paul tells him they ll have to leave the car behind. Defiant, Martin puts all his energy into completing it before the eviction but John Paul is infuriated by his unwillingness to pitch in with packing up the site. Hurt by his father s lack of understanding, Martin storms off proclaiming his wish for a different life but while out collecting scrap, Martin has an encounter with a settled family where he experiences firsthand the discrimination that Travellers are frequently subjected to. Confused and upset, Martin returns to the site intent on destroying the car he s worked so hard on but his father stops him. John Paul does his best to explain to his son what he s just experienced and they reconcile. He helps Martin put the finishing touches to the car and in the penultimate scene, John Paul hooks Martin s car up to the back of his Jeep. They take it for a victorious test drive around the nearby field, at the end of which the bond between father and son is as strong as ever. The next day, the council bulldozers arrive to clear the site. Although the McDonagh s future is uncertain, John Paul reassures his family that whatever happens, they ll face it together. TIME TRAVELLER BIOGRAPHIES

Steve Kenny, Writer & Director Originally from Galway on the west coast of Ireland, Steve s journey into film began while studying film history and theory at Trinity College Dublin. After a year spent working on productions in Canada, he was accepted into the MA Filmmaking program at London Film School where he found his focus in writing and directing. Since graduating, Steve has worked as a script reader for companies including Studiocanal, Focus Features and Joe Wright s Shoebox Films while also pursuing his own projects. Steve s debut short, COIL screened at several festivals getting it s US premiere at Palm Springs International Shortfest and winning Best Student Short at the Kerry Film Festival 2015. TIME TRAVELLER is Steve s second film. It premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh 2017, and has since screened at Cork Film Festival, and Foyle film Festival where it won Best Irish Short qualifying the film for the 2019 Academy Awards. Screenings at Dublin, Cinequest, and Clermont Ferrand await in early 2018. Collie McCarthy, Producer Collie founded production company Forty Foot Pictures in 2014. Their first two short films were; JOSEPH S REEL, a romantic drama starring the late Robert Hardy and Alice Lowe; and COIL, a horror-thriller set in the West of Ireland. Both films have screened at several Oscar and Bafta qualifying festivals around the world. In 2015, Collie began working at Joe Wright s Shoebox Films in London under producers Paul Webster and Guy Heeley, the team behind ATONEMENT, LOCKE, and many more of the UK s most successful features. Films released whilst he was there include PAN for Warner Bros, DENIAL starring Rachel Weisz, and THE ESCAPE with Gemma Arterton. In production at time of leaving was Steve Knight s SERENITY starring Matthew McConaughey, and Oliver Parker s ensemble comedy SWIMMING WITH MEN. After two years as the Junior Production Executive at Shoebox, Collie left to build his own slate. Alongside this he is currently coordinating post production for Working Title Films on titles such as Tomas Alfredson s THE SNOWMAN, JOHNNY ENGLISH 3, and separately on Lenny Abrahamson s THE LITTLE STRANGER. Forty Foot Pictures most recent projects are; family action adventure short EARTHY ENCOUNTERS starring Fionn O Shea and Jess Barden - funded by the BFI and Creative England as part of their Emerging Talent strand, it was the first short film ever to be shot on the stunning Alexa 65 camera; as well as the short drama TIME TRAVELLER, starring Barry Ward and made under the Irish Film Board s Focus scheme. Time Traveller won Best Irish Short at the Foyle Film Festival this year, qualifying it for the 2019 Academy Awards.
