SPEECH and DRAMA 2014 SPEECH and DRAMA 2014 Speech and Drama forms a most important and interesting part of the Alderley Edge Festival. The development of Oral Communication Skills and the confidence to use them well are very important in today s world. The next section of this syllabus sets out the wide range of Speech and Drama Classes offered at this year s Festival, pages 37 to 44. In view of the continued success of Speech & Drama at our Festival, classes will take place on the evening of Wednesday 7 th May, all day and evening of Friday 9 th May and all day on Saturday 10 th May 2014, (Friday classes held during the day will not involve secondary age pupils and the week of the Festival is not the designated week for standard assessment tests in primary schools.) **************************** NOTES FOR SPEECH AND DRAMA CLASSES Class Sizes and Time Limits To keep classes to manageable numbers, there is a limit of 12 entries per class from each school, except for class 200. Large classes will be divided and additional trophies awarded where necessary. Attention is particularly drawn to Rule 15, see page 6: performers must not go over time. Please ensure that all relevant rules are adhered to.(see Pages 4 and 5) ADJUDICATORS COPIES Please hand own choice copies to the adjudicator s steward at point of performance *** All Thespian, Duologue, Drama, Mime and Shakespeare Classes *** Costumes & Props No Special costumes are allowed except for plain practice skirts with suitable footwear for period pieces, and small items such as hats, gloves, shawl or hand props.
