INTRODUCTION CENTRALISED PRODUCTION - AUSTRALIA Fox Sports Australia approached NEP almost exactly one year ago to today, with a view to centralising its live sports production requirements into one Sydney and one Melbourne location. The key drivers were production efficiency and cost Why two locations? It comes down to the geographic location of the production crews that cover our key sports. The NRL, National Rugby League and Soccer are located in Sydney. The AFL, Australian Rules football being located in Melbourne We committed to an IP solution from day one in discussions with Fox Sports, given that we were always going to be IP for contribution anyway, it made no sense to have mixed SDI and IP ecosystem, and with ST2110 on the horizon the parts of the puzzle were looking good So the journey began and one year later, this ambitious project is about to go live.
THE PROJECT SCOPE We are building 2 IP centralised production centres (hubs) in Sydney and in Melbourne Whilst building the hubs, create 1 temporary facility so we can begin production trials in October 2017 We are building 4 new connected 100% IP trucks And upgrading 7 of our existing fleet with an IP layer 29 venues connect to the 2 sites, spanning the entire country With a diverse/hitless 50Gbs network at 90% of connected venues SMPTE 2110 and/or VC 2 SMPTE 2059 (PTP) for system wide timing VSM control Our anchor client - Fox Sports is connected by a 100Gbs hitless network to the production hubs Meaning we are able to be uncompressed and hitless from the venue to the broadcaster The anyone anywhere concept is born
