S P R I N G 2 0 1 8 the Edison Library Letter Edison Township Free Public Library Heart Health Week @ the Edison Public Library The Edison Public Library is proud to announce that we will be collaborating with the Kittim N. Sherrod Foundation to bring you Heart Health Week. From Monday April 30th to Friday May 4th. As many Edison residents may remember, Kittim was an Edison High School senior and captain of the varsity football team when he suddenly passed away from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) during track practice on April 30, 2009. In honor of Kittim and many others who have passed away from heart related problems, the Edison Public Library will be placing defibrillators in all three of our library branches as well as getting all members of our staff first aid, CPR and defibrillator training. As part of Heart Health Week, we will be having health related events throughout the week. Check out page 4 for more information! It is a matter of learning how to still the mind. Today many of us turn to meditation and incorporate this vital life fulfilling technique. Join the Edison Library Knitting Group If you haven t been to a knitting group class yet, make sure you stop by, whether you re a beginner or a pro! Please bring a pair of knitting needles in size 6, 7 or 8 with 1 skein of worsted yarn in any color. The Senior Medicare Patrol of New Jersey ( SMP ), is designed to improve the quality of healthcare for senior citizens in New Jersey by educating seniors about Medicare and Medicaid fraud, waste and abuse. The goal of the project is to provide information so that seniors can take the appropriate steps to protect themselves from becoming victims of fraud, waste and abuse. The event featured Folksinger, Mara Levine who has reached #1 on the International Folk DJ Chart. The Library would like to thank Mara and the Edison Arts Society for bringing such a wonderful musical event to the library. We would also like to extend a big thank you to all those who were able to attend. Keep an eye on the library website for more future collaborations between the Library and the Arts Society! 5
