High quality audio video software deserves high-end Esoteric product solutions: New source players, models SZ-1 and UZ-1, are two channel and multi-channel playback devices, both equipped with stereo RCA terminals for high quality output of 2 channel signals. For playback of multi-channel video DVDs (Surround sound), both coax digital and optical (TosLink), audio outputs are also provided for connection to Dolby digital and/or DTS receivers, pre-amps or processors. These new models also feature additional ilink (1394/Firewire), terminal for output of multi-channel SACD audio information to an i.link equipped amplification device. Model SZ-1, SACD / CD disc player Model UZ-1, SACD / CD / DVD-A / DVD-V universal disc player Main features: Players equipped with CIRRUS LOGIC CS4398 D/A converter for decoding both Pulse Code Modulation (PCM), and Direct Stream Digital (DSD), formats. The SZ-1 and UZ-1 feature direct mode decoding for native DSD signal processing. DSD signals are directly converted to analog signals and led to the final output stage without passing through any other processing circuits such as volume controls or PCM conversion. This results in native DSD decoding for SACD encoded material. Furthermore, PCM encoded material such as native CD is also decoded in its original format and automatically upconverted by the Cirrus logic chip set. ESOTERIC S high performance sliding shaft structure and vertical laser pick-up system. The SZ-1and UZ-1 feature many high-end audio technologies developed exclusively by ESOTERIC. Most disc players allow for off axis, vertical tracking which requires a need for extensive error correction. Esoteric s tracking ability greatly reduces the need to error correct embedded data. The sliding shaft structure in the SZ-1 and UZ-1 is designed to prevent laser pick-up, off axis tilting during movement of the lens. This structure ensures stable motion of the pick-up and much more precise reading of all embedded material within the disc. This technology evolved from ESOTERIC S flagship models P-01 and P-03. Precise vertical alignment to the disc, with proper clamping and isolation from vibration, without any off axis movement by the lens, minimizes the need for error correction and/or interpolation of audio video data. These exclusive design implementations are why ESOTERIC players provide exceptional audio and video reproduction. I.Link terminal (AUDIO S400) In addition to offering coax digital and optical outputs (TosLink), all formats of digital audio can also be output from the included ilink terminal. ESOTERIC S flow-rate-control technology used with the ilink connections contribute to even higher-grade signal transmissions. WORD SYNC IN terminal The SZ-1 and UZ-1 feature WORD SYNC input terminals. This input allows you to synchronize operations from external components such as master clock generators including ESOTERIC S G-0s, G25U, or the AZ-1 digital amplifier. Synchronizing WORD SYNC signals between these devices improves sound quality providing greater transparency, staging, imaging and separation.
Video Components for Model UZ-1 only: The video digital to analog converter used in the UZ-1 is Analog Devices 14 bit/216 MHz: ADV7314. The UZ-1 also includes Faroudja s IC chip set for I/P conversion The UZ-1 is equipped with Analog Devices latest 14 bit/216 MHz video D/A converter to provide high quality D/A conversion. This video converter, combined with a noise shaping video (NSV), process shifts noise components to unused bandwidth achieving a high S/N ratio. This process provides extremely high-resolution video images that are similar to finely detailed pictures. The UZ-1 also incorporates a Faroudja chip set for I/P conversion, using DCDi technology to enable capture of smooth, progressive video. This allows for a more natural picture and reduces jagged edges or other unwanted artifacts. HDMI digital output terminal: An interface for next generation digital audio/visual equipment. The UZ-1 includes a high definition multimedia interface (HDMI), connector which enables the unit to transmit both audio and video signals to receiving equipment such as a plasma TV display, a compliant HDTV or LCD display, by connecting with just a single cable. The UZ-1 can up convert and output up to a 1080i digital video signal. The AZ-1 features a high efficiency WB transformer for its power component, providing very low current loss and excellent instantaneous current power, as needed on demand. WORD SYNC OUT terminal The AZ-1 is equipped with a WORD SYNC output terminal to synchronize its operation with other components such as the SZ-1 or UZ-1.
