Private Tuition 1. It is the school policy to facilitate private and/or group music lessons but any financial arrangements must be made between the tutors, the students and their parents. 2. Accounts for private/group music lessons will be sent home per term. 3. Fees must be paid within 4 weeks of receiving the account. If fees have not been paid by the end of the term, students will not be allowed to continue lessons the following term. Lessons can be recommenced once the amount owed for the previous term has been paid. 4. Where possible seniors will be given lesson times outside of class time. For all other students, lessons will rotate throughout the term so that students do not consistently miss the same classes. It is the responsibility of the student to catch up on any missed class work. 5. 6 weeks notice must be given in writing with the signature of the parent/guardian should a student wish to terminate lessons. If notice is not given, students will still be charged for the six weeks worth of lessons. 5

6. If a student has to miss a lesson due to illness please contact the appropriate tutor directly no later than 7.30am on the day of the lesson. If there is any other reason (whether personal or due to school interruptions) why the student cannot make the lesson, she is expected to inform the tutor the previous lesson so an alternate time can be arranged. Any lesson missed though pupil carelessness is not obliged to be made up, and it will still incur the charge. 7. Any students entering for practical examinations pay an entrance fee directly to the tutor who will organise details with the various Examinations Boards. In the event of withdrawal before the examination, fees are not refundable from the Examination Boards. 8. The music tutor will sometimes order music books, etc. for the students. These costs are to be met by the parents and paid directly to the music tutor. 9. If a student leaves her instrument at home on the day of her lesson she must still attend the lesson. No student is to borrow another students instrument. 10. All students must take their school diaries to every music lesson so that the tutor can sign the date and time of every lesson. 11. Mercy College has a number of instruments available for hire. The annual rate is $170.00 and this will be billed with your daughter school fees. If you wish to hire a school instrument you must first complete a Hire Form agreeing to take full responsibility for the instrument. 12. School instruments are only available for hire while a student is taking lessons on that instrument from a tutor at Mercy College. School instruments are not available for hire to any student who is learning outside the College. Band Program 13. Parents are invited to take an active role in the Band Program. We sometimes have parent meetings or form support networks where parents are asked to help with such things as fundraising, transport, accompanying students on Music camp, etc. I hope that many parents will lend their support in 2017.
