Lovereading4kids Reader reviews of Planet Stan Elaine Wickson and Chris Judge Below are the complete reviews, written by the Lovereading4kids members. Daniel, age 6 Planet Stan is all about science, pie charts and Venn diagrams. My favourite bit is the bit at the side where it is one of; black hole of doom, stormy, need cake (don't know what that means), alarmed, not ok, phew, ok, calm, sunny or over the moon. This shows what Stan is feeling like. The main character is Stan. You will also meet Dad, Flossie, Liam, Freddie, Gran, Mum and Jess. It tells you what Freddie and Stan like and dislike I would recommend the book for 8 and 9 year olds, or 6 and 7 year olds who are confident readers. I extremely love the book. The names of the planets are in bold. It's super funny, it will blow your mind. He thinks beetroot cake is the worst thing in the world. I wasn't expecting bogies at the end. It has 230 pages, with lots of pictures, which I liked because they were so funny. I read it in one go. I want to read more of Elaine Wickson's books. I liked her style. The ideas are a bit different but really good. The words are interesting, the diagrams and pictures are eye-catching. Ethan, age 10 Great book, hilarious. Packed full of comedy and generally a great all round book. The cover may not look that good but the inside really makes up for it! This is the first book of the series and having read it I love it and want to read

more. Having looked at the cover I thought it was a bit boring but this is definitely a case of don't judge a book by it's cover as it packed a legendary story within. My favourite character was Fred because he was always doing stupid things to help his brother and they were downright hilarious. I thought the way they used pie charts to explain his day were really good and useful. I think this book would be best for 8-11 year old children. I'm sure they'd find it really funny too. Huxley Glen, age 7 This is such a funny book, I couldn't stop laughing when I read this. The characters brother is so funny. I can't wait to read more books like this. What a fantastic book this is. I don't think we have ever laughed so much. It is so funny as the character tells you all about his brother and the ways he tries to annoy him. The book is set out very well and the illustrations really bring the story to life. I hope there are many more books like this. Toby Little, age 10 Planet Stan: My Life in Pie Charts is an interesting book about a boy really interested in science, but who has a very, very annoying brother. His brother s name is Fred. You might think Why is Fred so annoying? Well, first of all he makes holes in Stan s clothes and find out in the book. Fred s best friend is called Rory, who is actually a skeleton at the museum, of a T-Rex. During the story, they want to change Rory s exhibit, to an exhibit about pollution. Stan also likes Rory. So Fred and Stan must work together to try and save him. There are lots of pie charts and graphs in this book, and lots of things happening, and surprises. My favourite part of the book is when Fred asks Stan What is bonjour in French? I mean that is funny! There are a lot more funny parts. I hope you enjoy reading this book. I loved reading it. www.fantasticbooksandwheretofindthem.fun

Erica Motoc, age 12 Although based on the popular subject of siblings, Planet Stan has a unique twist and simple but affective illustrations. This book is for those who like to have a laugh. If you are down, it's a perfect book to bring you up! All you cake lovers out there, be sure to eat and read because this book certainly gave me an appetite of cake, no doubt about that! Stan is always being dumped with his annoying brother so they travel to the museum to spend time with Rory the dinosaur, his brother's favourite museum artefact. Now that a new and more modern activity is going to be replacing him, will brother hood be able to reunite the two and save the precious dinosaur? Lewis Briggs, age 11 A must read for all Diary of a Wimpy Kid fans! I like this book because it's funny. It's about space and dinosaurs and it contains pie charts on many pages. This book is about Stan, who wants to win the top prize in the space science fair, Fred, who wants to save the dinosaur at the museum and Liam, who likes cake. I loved this book and almost cried when I finished it! I would recommend this book to anyone. It is hilarious and kept me entertained for hours! Joshua Hyun Clifford, age 9, YLolfa Gcg Library This book is about a boy named Stan and his life in charts and diagrams. Stan has a little brother named Fred who is always messing up Stan s life! (Including his Lego death star that had clearly been sat on). Fred loves a dinosaur called Rory who is at the museum. One day the museum manager wanted to replace the dinosaur with a global warming exhibit which Fred hated. So Stan and Fred go and save Rory with a foot petition. I love this book because it is funny, silly and an awesome read. I would recommend this book to my friends for the laughs and humour it gives. 10 stars out of 10! I will definitely buy this book when it is released. You can follow YLolfa Gcg Library on Twitter: @Ylolfagcg

Annabelle Cassidy, age 9 I really loved this book. It was amazing because it was really funny and sweet and teaches you how to love your brother and sister even if they are annoying. Planet Stan is a book about a boy called Stanley Fox and his little brother called Fred and together they go on lots of adventures. The main adventure starts when Fred, who loves a dinosaur on display at the local museum called Rory decides to try to save him when plans are made to take him away. Stanley goes to take part in a science fair and forgets his real life meteorite from home. Fred, who is supposed to be saving Rory, comes to the rescue with the meteorite so that Stanley can win the competition but in doing this he might miss helping to try to save him. This book is all about how sometimes you can find your brothers and sisters annoying but you should love them anyway. I hope anyone who reads this will enjoy it as much as I have. This book would be great for boys and girls aged 7 and above who love space, dinosaurs and families. Gianna Smith, age 8 I have not read a book like this before but I loved the whole thing and made even my mum laugh out loud, especially the 'need cake'. Planet Stan is a very funny book. Stan lives with his mum and dad and often annoying younger brother. Stan is angry with his bother because he puts tooth paste in Stan's slippers, puts snails under their bunk bed and throws Stan's pants out of the window. My brother read it twice before he let me read it. It is a good book for boy's 5 to7. Stan enters a space competition with his friends. Stan really wants to win as the prize is a telescope and he loves space. He thinks his team is sure to win as they have a fantastic surprise as part of their entry - Stan's prize possession. At the side of each page there is a chart that tells you how Stan is feeling. The scale goes from black hole of doom, to needing cake to calm and finally over the moon. It has a lot of graphs like pie charts and chart graphs that show how annoying his little brother is as well as funny facts, mainly about space. The book feels as if Stan is actually speaking to you and you can really tell how he is feeling.

Alexander Bisland Stan loves charts and he uses them to explain everything. Stan wants to win a telescope because he loves space. BUT one thing stands in his way actually one person his snot picking, loud, dinosaur loving brother, Fred. Fred is always up to mischief like colouring in Rory, the T-Rex at the museum or stealing the new exhibition! It gets worse when Fred realises that Rory is being removed from the museum and he nearly ruins Stan s chances of entering the competition! Does Stan win? Does Rory leave the museum? Does Fred finally get along with Stan, like all good brothers should? :) Read the book to find out! I recommend this book to 9+ readers who like Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I really enjoyed the way this book was written and I think more books should include charts, diagrams and graphs to make them more interesting! I give it 5*****.
