Guidelines for ECA Trials (Final Round) General guidelines: The candidates should bring a photocopy of their DU Registration Receipt. The Candidates should report at the allotted time. In case of clash, an application in person should be given to concerned center. Videography/Photography are NOT ALLOWED inside the auditorium. In case of dance category, Bollywood songs/album music are strictly not allowed. All the candidates are advised to report to the venue on their alloted timings. Guidelines for Different Activities: Dance: Classical Dance 1. The music/song for the performance should be pure classical. Same pieces as in prelims are not allowed. 2. The candidate should introduce the composition/dance form with all the necessary details. 3. No instruments/ music shall be provided at the venue. Candidate can use pre-recorded track music for which they must bring functional virus free pen drive for ready to play music. 4. It is preferred that candidates use pre-recorded music and not an accompanist. However, at most one instrumental accompanist will be allowed. 5. Candidate should wear costume and make-up as suitable for their dance form and should come ready. 6. The song they select should be able to showcase their talent both in Taal (steps) and Bhava (Expressions). 7. The duration of the performance should not be more than 4 minutes.

8. Judges can ask the students to repeat their performance or ask to perform on any other song which they wish to play. They may not allow the performance and instead ask the candidates to perform specific steps of a dance form. 9. Questions can be asked by judges on the students performances. 10. Parents are not allowed to be present in the auditorium while the performance is going on. 11. Bollywood songs/album music are strictly not allowed. 12. Videography/Photography are NOT ALLOWED inside the auditorium. Indian Folk 1. Candidate should give relevant information about his/her performance vis a vis region language, community etc. 2. Film Songs are strictly not allowed. Music should have authentic instruments. 3. No instruments/ music shall be provided at the venue. Candidate can use pre-recorded track music for which they must bring functional virus free pen drive for ready to play music. 4. It is preferred that candidates use pre-recorded music and not an accompanist. However, at most one instrumental accompanist will be allowed. 5. Candidate should wear costume and make-up as suitable for their dance form and should come ready. 6. The duration of the performance should not be less than 4 minutes. 7. Western Dance 1. Candidate is free to choose any form of western dance. 2. Candidate should give relevant information about the form chosen by him/her. 3. No instruments/ music shall be provided at the venue. Candidate can use pre-recorded track music for which they must bring functional virus free pen drive for ready to play music. No accompanist shall be allowed. 4. Performance should not exceed 5 minutes. 5. Dance piece should be a western dance piece i.e. it can consist of dance form like jazz, contemporary, ballet, hip-hop, tap jive, salsa etc. 6. Performer should have basic knowledge about dance. 7. Questions can be asked by judges on the students performances. Judges can ask the students to repeat their performance. They may not allow the performance and instead ask the candidate to perform specific steps of a dance form. 8. Bollywood songs/album music are strictly not allowed. Choreography 1. Candidate should give relevant information about the theme. Performances should be based on a theme which the participant will have to explain before the performance begins. 2. No instruments/ music shall be provided at the venue. Candidate can use pre-recorded track music for which they must bring functional virus free pen drive for ready to play music. No accompanist shall be allowed. 3. Performance should not exceed 5 minutes. 4. The Candidate is allowed to use props but no extra time will be given to setup props. 5. The music piece has to be instrumental, there should be no lyrics in the music. 6. Performer should have basic knowledge about the dance.

Vocal Music: Indian Classical 1. Time limit is up to 5 minutes per candidate. 2. Accompaniment/accompanists are compulsory however, not more than one accompanist per participant shall be allowed. Candidates can use electronic taanpura/shrutipeti. 3. In case of Hindustani Classical Music, candidates should come prepared with Chhotakhayaal, Bara khayaal, Aalap&Taans of at least 2 Raagas. 4. Carnatic music Finalists should come prepared with atleast 3 compositions with o Swaram o Raagam o Niraval Indian Light/Folk 1. Time limit is upto 4 minutes per candidate. 2. Tracks are not allowed. 3. Accompaniment/accompanists are compulsory however, not more than one accompanist per participant shall be allowed. Candidates can use electronic taanpura/shrutipeti. 4. Candidate should come prepared with atleast 3-4 numbers across different genres/geners to showcase their talent. 5. Bollywood songs/album music are strictly not allowed. 6. No time will be given for tuning the instrument. Candidate should ensure that the Western Classical 1. The candidate should introduce the item in not more than 30 seconds. 2. Not more than one accompanying instrument shall be allowed. 3. Candidate should bring his/her own musical instrument. 4. The performance should not exceed 4 minutes. 5. Candidates are required to get their own guitars, effects pedals, bass, keyboard, drum cymbals. 4. No accompanist shall be allowed. 5. No time will be given for tuning the instrument. Candidate should ensure that the Theatre: 1. Candidates would be required to present at least one monologue/soliloquy of maximum 5 minutes duration from a theatrical script. 2. There could be a situation based/one liner improvisation round. 3. There could be a one word topical improvisation round.

4. Candidates should come prepared with some basic knowledge of Theatre. They will be evaluated on the basis of scene content, innovative use of prescribed elements, acting ability and capacity for process analysis. 5. Candidates will not be allowed to imitate film scenes and famous actors. 6. Candidates should come in full costume and makeup according to the character they will be presenting. They should also bring their own props. 7. Candidates are advised to present their scenes either in Hindi or English or a mix of both. 8. The decision of the judges shall be final and binding. Creative Writing: English 1. Subject /Subjects will be announced at the venue. 2. Candidates will be provided with more challenging creative writing prompts/ themes compared to the preliminary round. They will have to complete writing /prompt in maximum 500 words. 3. Time Limit: 1 hour. 4. They shall not be allowed to carry mobile phones in the test rooms. Hindi 1. Vishay /kathanakvastukiudghoshana venue par ki jayagi. 2. Kavita / laghukatha / ekankivasansmaran hi likhen. 3. Kripyaa shudhbhasha likhe,vartani (spelling) kishuddhatakadhyanrakhen. 4. Shabdon ki adhiktam seema : 500 words. 5. Samay seema: 1 hour. 6. Apane saath test rooms mein moblie phone na layen.

Debate: English &Hindi 1. The motion for the debate as well as the side (for or against the motion) will be given to each candidate on the spot at the venue. The candidates will not have the freedom to choose the side of the motion. 2. The candidates will be given a maximum of four (3 + 1) minutes to speak. They will get 20 minutes preparation time. 3. Candidates will be evaluated overall on the basis of their content, logical argumentation, manner of presentation. Emotional, obstinate and ornamental speech lacking content and logic will be penalised. 4. The candidates are advised to bring pen and paper to help them prepare their arguments. However, reading out from the paper while debating will not be allowed (the candidates can at most look at their jottings time to time). 5. Use of mobile phone and internet in any form after the motion is given to the candidates is strictly prohibited.

Quiz: 1. Questions can be asked on history, sports, current affairs, arts, popular culture, business, science, literature, politics etc. 2. Mobiles & bags cannot be carried inside the premises. 3. The student is supposed to carry a writing board and a blue or a black pen. Fine Arts: Sketching, Painting & Sculpture 1. Possession and use of mobile phones are strictly prohibited during the trial. 2. Theme/Themes will be announced at the venue. 3. Candidates for painting/sketching will be given one and a half hour to complete their work. 4. For sculpture the maximum time limit shall be two hours. 5. The candidate is expected to bring his/her own required material. No material shall be provided at the venue except an A3 water color sheet will be provided to each sketching/painting candidate and clay will be provided to the sculpture candidates. Digital Media: Photography 1. Each candidate will be required to click images on-the-spot on a topic to them. After one-hour duration, candidates will be required to submit the best three photographs to be evaluated by the judges. Each candidate will also be interviewed by the panel of judges on their photographic skills (both instrument and composition) in general and as used in the submitted photographs. 2. For the evaluation of images by judges, participants must save and submit image files as jpg of at least 4 megapixels. They may keep the aspect ratio they desire, to makes their images communicative for their composition. (Note: No photoshopping, filters etc are allowed in editing). 3. Participants must bring their own camera* with desired technical specifications which must record at least 4 megapixel jpg image. 4. All images submitted by the candidates will be the property of the University to use as they so desire.

*Organizers will not provide any assistance of instruments (camera, pen-drive, harddisc etc.) and software to candidates. In case of malfunctioning candidates must bring a standby camera. Film making & Animation 1. Candidate must bring their own camera, tripod, audio accessories, pen drives and working laptop. 2. Students can bring some music pieces to be used in demo film. 3. The idea/topic and duration of production will be detail on the spot. 4. Students have the choice of software for creating animation or for video editing. Divinity: 1. No accompanists will be allowed. 2. The students should be prepared in the following: Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ragas and contributors Teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Nitnem Banis Concept of Haume, Naam, Langar, Sewa, in Sikhism, Sikh code of conduct Historical Gurudwaras of Delhi along with their history. The history of ten Sikh Gurus. Ardaas Reciting Gurbani & playing instruments (Kindly bring your instruments). The judges may also enquire regarding the various instruments used in such recitals. NCC 1. All the candidates should come in their uniforms (In the best turnout). 2. The candidates should be able to perform marching, salute and all different commands. 3. A candidate should have knowledge about different camps and other relevant information.

NSS 1. A candidate should have knowledge of social work, leadership camps, and orientation camps organized by different agencies. 2. A candidate should carry details of camps attended which have been organised by any State or Central governments.
