Instruction for Locking Tuner s Carriage(s) before Shipping Step 1. Configure tuner properties and verify connection From ATS block diagram view, double click on the tuner that needs to be locked. The Tuner properties dialog will show up. Select the correct tuner driver and other variables based on the tuner model. For USB tuner Select tuner driver as TunUSB.exe or TunHubMech.exe. Click on Scan button and a dialog with available USB tuner will show up. Select the tuner from the dialog and it will update the model number and serial number. For LXI tuner with TCP/IP connection Select TunLxiIP.exe as tuner driver and enter the IP address of the LXI tuner. The IP address of the PC connected to the LXI tuner must be on the same subnet as the LXI tuner. Click on Find Tuner button and the model number and serial number will be updated. Scan button will not work for LXI tuner with TCP/IP connection (only for USB connection).
For LXI tuner with USB connection Select TunLxiUSB.exe as tuner driver. Click on Scan button and a dialog with a list of available tuner(s) will show up. Select the correct tuner and it will update the model number, serial number and COM port automatically. For Legacy tuner with MT1020C Controller Select Tun1020c.exe as tuner driver. Click on Scan button and a dialog with a list of 2 controller ports will show up. Select the correct port that the tuner is connected to and the tuner controller fields will be filled up automatically. Note that the tuner model and serial number will not be filled up automatically. Select the correct tuner model from the drop down list and enter the tuner serial number of the tuner.
The first 4 digits indicate the serial number of the MT1020C controller, and the last digit indicates the controller s port number. For Legacy tuner with MT986B/C controller Select Tun986.exe (for MT986B controller) or MT986c.exe (for MT986c controller)based on actual tuner controller model For MT986 tuner driver, neither Scan nor Find Tuner button will work. All fields need to be filled up manually. To verify the connection, click on Test button, select Test menu from the pop-up dialog and select Find Tuner. If everything is setup correctly, a message with Tuner Found will appear. For MT98xML series dual carriage tuner Even though it is a single tuner with dual carriages built in, the software will still show 2 separate tuner icons in the block diagram. Select the driver for the tuner with label Carriage#1 as TunLxiIP.exe or TunLxiUSB.exe based on the actual connection type. Select the driver for the tuner with label Carriage#2 as TunLxiIP_C2.exe or TunLxiUSB_C2.exe based on the actual connection type. Enter the IP address of the tuner and click on Find Tuner if using TCP/IP connection. For USB connection, click on Scan button and select the tuner from the pop up list. The same procedure applies for the 2 nd tuner.
Note that the locking procedure will have to be done on both carriages, and there will be 2 locking screws under the base plate to lock each carriage. Carr#2 Carr#1 Step 2. Check locking position and move the tuner 1. Every tuner model has a label with locking position on the front of the tuner. Locate the label and find out the locking position for the carriage. The label will look similar to the picture below. 2. Click on the Park button from the Tuner Properties dialog. 3. Enter the carriage position from the label and click OK to move the carriage to locking position.
4. If initialization of the tuner is required, a dialog will pop-up asking to initialize the tuner. Click Yes to initialize the tuner. 5. After the initialization is done, the tuner will be at locking position 6. Put the locking screw at the bottom of the tuner with label A on it. The screw should thread in all the way without any resistance. If there is resistance and the screw is not going all the way in, proceed to step 3. Storage Position Locking Position Once the screw is in place, the tuner is ready to ship.
Step 3. (optional) If there is any resistance when putting the screw to lock the carriage, stop immediately and do not force it as it may damage the tuning mechanisms inside the tuner. Open the cover and check if the screw and the locking hole under the carriage are lined up. If not, manually move the carriage a few positions at a time until one can visually see the hole under the carriage and the screw are lined up, then put the screw in. Manual movement can be done from the tuner port control by double click on the green area around the tuner icon. Once the screw is securely in place, carefully put the tuner cover back on. Make sure the blue ribbon cable is not caught up and being pushed down when putting the cover back on. The tuner is ready to ship.
For tuner with motors which are remotely unresponsive Warning: Below procedures must be approved by Maury before user proceeds with the steps. Failure to get approval will void the warranty and user will be responsible for any costs that related to the repair and calibration of the tuner. Step 1: Open the tuner s cover by removing four screws (two per side) for MT982 series. For MT981 series, there will be 8 screws (four per side). Make sure the tuner is not power on and all cables are disconnected from the outside. Remove four screws (two per side) to remove cover. Carefully lift cover by the handle. Step 2: Lower the rack gear by loosen the screws indicated in the picture below For MT982 series tuners Carriage Rack gear Shipping screw in storage position (B) Loosen the two screws (one per side), push down the rack gear to its lowest position and tighten the screws. This allows the carriage to move freely.
For MT981 series tuners 2 Loosen those screws and lower the rack gear. The carriage can now be moved freely. 1 Loosen the screws and lower the blocks that support the rack gear. Note: For LXI tuner, there may be display panel blocking some of the screws. Remove the display panel and loosen the screws to lower the rack gear. Rack gear Remove the two screws and carefully detach the LXI display panel from the base plate. LXI display panel Step 3: Slide the carriage toward the locking position. Remove the shipping screw from its storage location (marked with letter B at the bottom of the tuner). Install shipping screw into locking position (marked with letter A ). Align carriage hole to completely install the shipping screw.
Shipping screw in locking position (A) Step 4: Tighten all the screws that was previously loosen. Install the cover back on. Make sure that the blue ribbon cable is safely tucked inside the tuner while putting the cover on. Failure to do so can potentially damage the ribbon cable and the integrity of the tuner. Install the four screws to secure the cover (eight for MT981 tuners). Blue ribbon cable Step 5: The tuner is ready to ship.
