The Ballpark offers 49,000 state-of-the art seats, ideal baseball site lines, modern amenities, and improved levels of service. David Mason & Associates provided civil and structural engineering services for the new Busch Stadium ballpark. Site preparation work included the relocation of major utility distribution facilities in the downtown area, demolition of existing Busch Stadium, site improvements, and roadway and interstate highway modifications. Utility work included the removal and relocation of numerous water, sewer, gas, steam, telecommunications, and electric distribution lines. DMA coordinated with multiple public and private utility agencies to accomplish the design and construction of the utility relocations. Other infrastructure work included the realignment of two collector roadways and the construction of a new street to re-establish the City street grid around the New Ballpark. The roadway improvements also required construction of traffic signals, and modifications to the local traffic control interconnect system. The New Ballpark is adjacent to Federal Interstate Highway I-64. DMA prepared all construction documentation for the demolition of an existing onramp to I-64. DMA also performed geometric design studies for the relocation of a replacement on-ramp and assisted in obtaining state and federal highway department approval. DMA designed modifications to an existing light rail platform adjacent to the New Ballpark. DMA provided all civil and structural engineering for site development and urban streetscape improvements around the ballpark. This included grading and drainage design, retaining wall design, paving and parking lot design, and other facilities for vehicular and pedestrian circulation around the ballpark.
