2017 SEASON ABERDEEN COMMUNITY THEATRE presents TUESDAY-SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31 NOVEMBER 4, 7:30 PM through SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2:30 PM YOUR COMMUNIT Y. YOUR THEATRE.

FROM THE ARTISTIC/ MANAGING DIRECTOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS Warren Redmond, President Curt Wischmeier, Vice-President Ann Rasmussen, Treasurer Kathy Stuck, Secretary MEMBERS AT LARGE Linda Batteen, Vicki Lust, Gregg Magera and Barb Evans Rory King, Legal Counsel STAFF James L. Walker, Artistic/Managing Director Brian T. Schultz, Associate Artistic/Managing Director Gary Darling, Marketing Director/Office Manager Steven Huber, Box Office Manager Charlotte Grandpre, Technical Assistant ACT is a proud member of the American Association of Community Theatre info@aact.org www.aact.org Interested in acting or directing but don t have a lot of time? Have a great script you d love to see on stage? Contact ACT at (605) 225-2228 or ACT@NVC.net Support is provided with funds from the State of South Dakota through the Department of Tourism and State Development and the National Endowment for the Arts Office of Arts 800 Governors Drive Pierre, SD 57501-2294 www.sdarts.org 605-773-3131 In State 800-423-6665 DONALD H. HALL, 1925-2008 Co-Founder of ACT Honoree of ACT s Donald H. Hall Scholarship, assisting ACT volunteers attending NSU. For more information or to contribute to this scholarship endowment fund, contact ACT at (605) 225-2228. Welcome to ACT s production of The Addams Family. If you re my age, you grew up with the original TV series, and if you re younger you ve experienced the re-runs. It was an iconic, kooky, ooky look at an off-the-wall family. Maybe a little more like mine than I d admit. Such fun. I loved it growing up. A few years ago, when I heard they were developing a stage musical of The Addams Family, I thought, oooh, what fun! However, I never heard the music nor read the script before seeing the production at the national festival last June. At that point, I thought, we really need to look at mounting the The Addams Family. After talking it over with Brian Schultz, we thought, why not do it now, for our next production planned for around Halloween. That would be so cool. Well, here it is. We opened on Halloween and I hope you like the efforts of our ACT volunteers. It has been such fun working on this show. ACT will present Sinatra and Company, That Holiday Feeling next, just in time to start the holiday season, right over Thanksgiving. Reactions to performing over Thanksgiving is about 50/50: those who are home for Thanksgiving and have family visiting like the idea; those who have to leave town, not so much. And of course, that means the ACT staff works over the holiday. We hope you ll have an opportunity to start the holidays with one of the five performances, Wednesday through Saturday, November 22-25. Tickets are now on sale for subscribers and public sales begin on Monday, November 6th, at Riddle s Jewelry in the Aberdeen Mall. As we wind down this season, I want to thank you, again, for your continued patronage. We know every show cannot please every person. But we strive to do the best production we can with the financial and volunteer resources we have for each production. Your support is essential to the continued growth of Aberdeen Community Theatre in the Capitol Theatre. Thank you for your contribution this season and, if you haven t been able to contribute yet, please use page 10 of the program to help us and make a donation today. It means so very much. Also, in addition to season contributions, we are continuing to raise the funds to replace the Marquee with LED bulbs as well as retrofit the entire Capitol Theatre complex. It will make a huge difference in the ongoing costs of running the historic Capitol Theatre for years to come. Please note on the memo of your check if the contribution is for the season or the LED lighting fund. Every penny counts and it is only with your help we can continue the productions here at the Aberdeen Community Theatre. I have always felt blessed by the support each of you show for your community theater through your contributions. Over the years, there have been many contributions of cash, as well as donations of stock or other financial instruments. If you would like to make a contribution using stock, property or some other financial instrument, please contact the ACT office at any time. It is only through these generous gifts we can continue bringing productions like The Addams Family, and keep productions up and running in the historic Capitol Theatre. Thank you, again and enjoy. Let us know what you think. 2

ACT gratefully acknowledges the following organizations and individuals for gifts and pledges received for the 2017 season. Your Contributing Support is essential to managing the daily operating costs of the Capitol which includes electricity, gas, upkeep, janitorial, etc. It is only through your generous support that ACT can continue to maintain the Capitol Theatre on Aberdeen s historic Main Street while continuing our artistic growth. Join the growing number of patrons by calling ACT s office at 605-225-2228. CAST & CREW CHRIS ANDERSON (Mal Beineke) An ACT regular since 2012, Chris was last seen as police officer Sweaty Eddie in Sister Act. He is enjoying being a part of this fun musical comedy, based on one of his favorite childhood TV programs, but has been greatly challenged portraying a normal person. He feels privileged to be able to work with such a talented cast, hopes everyone enjoys the show, and is grateful to his wife Jennifer and family for continuing to support his acting habit! TRENT DEYO (Uncle Fester) Trent is a 4th grade teacher at Simmons Elementary. A few of his most memorable ACT roles were Pharaoh in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and The Monster in Young Frankenstein. He has recieved awards for his roles in ACT festival productions Working and Honk! and played Ed Humde in How to Talk Minnesotan. He was last seen in Mavis Pleads the Fourth as Edgar where he won an Outstanding Acting award at the SD State AACTFest. WINTER EGGENA (Ancestor) This is Winter s ACT debut and she is so excited to be part of the show! She is a manager at McDonald s on 6th Ave., so stop by and say hi sometime. Her hobbies are dancing, reading and teaching little kids. JONAH KOST (Ancestor) Jonah is excited to be back at ACT! He was last seen as Aladdin in Aladdin, Jr. for YPT. Some of his favorite shows at ACT include Godspell, Jr., and The Top Job for the 2013 AACTFest cycle. Jonah also participates in theater at Roncalli and also dances at Living Art Dance Studio. DIANE LEITHEISER (Grandma Addams) A seven-year volunteer, Diane was last seen as Sr. Mary Lazarus in Sister Act. Diane is excited to be a part of the Addams Family tradition. Diane teaches Family & Consumer Sciences at Simmons Middle School and directs the school play. She loves to quilt and bake in her spare time. PEGGY LISTER (Ancestor) Peggy is unearthly happy to be working in her fourth show at ACT. She would like to thank her ghoulishly great husband and family for always understanding how much she adores musical theater, and for supporting her, even when she s playing a dead person on stage! And thanks to the frighteningly good cast and crew of The Addams Family for making this an eerily memorable experience! NANCY MILLER (Ancestor) Has volunteered with ACT since Music Man, was last on stage as a nun in Sister Act, and worked on props for Exit Laughing. 8 CHRISTINA FISCHER (Ancestor) Strangely, Christina has better balance when dancing than when simply walking or standing still so if you hear a thud from backstage, it s probably her. It has been a long time since she played on ACT s stage. She lives in Redfield, but lived in Aberdeen previously. She most recently helped out with ACT s Constellations in April as an assistant director/stage manager and learned a lot. In Christina s last onstage performance she also played a not-very-happy ghost. MICHAEL GAROFALO (Ancestor) Once again, Michael is super excited to be onstage with ACT. His most recent appearance onstage was in Sister Act as an altar boy, drag queen and many more. He is a sophomore at Aberdeen Roncalli where he participates in tennis, cross country and oral interpretation. TYLAN GLOVER (Lucas Beineke) Welcome to Tylan s bio. This is Tylan s debut at ACT, but he is nowhere near new to the stage. He stars in his high school productions at Groton Area. Tylan was also a season member with Storybook Land Theatre. He wants to thank you for coming and hopes you enjoy the show. JASON HONERMAN (Ancestor) Jason grew up in Sioux Falls and moved to Aberdeen to attend school at NSU where he was an actor and did tech for the four years he was a student. He now works as a tattoo and piercing apprentice at Shrunken Head Tattoos in Aberdeen, SD. WENDI OWENS (Alice Beineke) This is Wendi s debut production at ACT. She is a RN/EMT/Lifeguard Instructor/Pool Manager and currently actor. She has a husband and three children who have suffered for her craft but have been very supportive. She is so excited and thankful to be a part of this wonderful production. KARA PIES (Ancestor) This is Kara s second production with ACT, the first being Sister Act this past summer. She is a hearing instrument specialist at Rich Hearing and Tinnitus Center in Aberdeen. Kara is also a newlywed, having married her husband, Dean, in August. PAUL ROWENHORST (Lurch) The Addam s Family is Paul s debut with the Aberdeen Community Theatre. His last performance was in Huron playing Ole in Ole and Lena s Wedding. He is Director of Ministry Operations at New Life Fellowship Church. His wife, Melissa, and boys: Stephen, Luke and Jonathan, are excited to be in Aberdeen. MICHELLE SCHAUNAMAN (Morticia Addams) Michelle started singing and acting at eight years old, and has been in ten theatrical productions. She met her husband, Nick, during a high school production of Fiddler on the Roof, and after eleven years together, they have a son, Brody. You may find her exercising at the YMCA, singing at a wedding or funeral, or helping her husband at Jimmy s Pizza.

BRIAN T. SCHULTZ (Gomez Addams) resides in Aberdeen with his wife, Juli, and two daughters. His is also ACT s associate artistic/managing director and SBLT s director. Schultz received Best Supporting Actor in the AACT 2009 national festival for his role as Russ Renner in ACT s How to Talk Minnesotan: The Musical and Comprehensive Creativity in the 2013 AACT Region V festival for his work on The Top Job!
