The Thinkers in Residence inititive is imed t stimulting innovtive reserch, estblishing globl networks, creting vibrnt reserch culture nd ensuring tht Dekin keeps pce with exciting reserch developments nd knowledge cretion. This is the first time ADT hs commissioned n ADT dncer to mke full-length work for the compny. "This is n incredible opportunity to work with n mzing ensemble of dncers under the guidnce nd mentorship of one of Austrli's most influentil choreogrphers - Grry Stewrt," Dniel commented. A Delicte Sitution is dnce thetre work tht seeks to explore the nture of humnity s pproch to superstition in deth, dying nd the fterlife. By exmining both the omnipresence of deth nd deth lore cross cultures, working with the idioms of dnce nd thetre, A Delicte Sitution sets out to demonstrte how these re interpreted ccording to the beliefs, vlues nd tboos prevlent in ech prticulr culture. To convey this nlogy, the work explores Mlysi s obsession with the supernturl nd the folklore relted to deth nd dying tht continues to inform its culturl belief systems. Set on Mlysin territory, A Delicte Sitution is the story of Western womn s struggle to come to terms with deth whilst surrounded by culture sturted in legend, myth nd supersttion. Utilizing Mlysi s occultism, the distinctive vision for this work is highly visul stge work in which dnce, physicl thetre nd costume re the primry cretive tools. Lin intends to use her extensive experience in the field of dnce to continue creting performnce work tht whilst drwing on dnce techniques, is fundmentlly drmtic in nture.
