INTERNATIONAL MASTER MUSIC COURSES (IMMC) www.cmim.figm.org June 24th July 22nd, 2018 The Madrid Royal Superior Conservatory of Music P R E S E N T A T I O N The International Master Music Courses [IMMC] are a unique call in the world and a pioneering enterprise in Spain. Covened by the Gómez-Martínez International Foundation [GMIF] in close collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Madrid [UPM], the Madrid Royal Superior Conservatory of Music [RCSMM] and the Community of Madrid [CAM], the IMMC offer a high-level, major studies music programme featuring a varied and exhaustive schedule and an exceptional teaching staff comprised by some of the best artists and maestros worldwide headed by laureate Maestro Miguel Ángel Gómez-Martínez, Principal Conductor of RTVE Orchestra & Choir and President of the GMIF. Aimed to Music Professionals and Degrees in Music, the IMMC will span 4 weeks -from June 24 th to July 22 nd at the Madrid Royal Superior Conservatory of Music rounding up a total workload of 470 hours. Being its main focus to provide the Participants -Active and Listening- with the artistic excellence through an intensive/exhaustive theoretical-practical studies programme divided into 6 áreas -Orchestra Conducting, Orchestral Training, Solo Instrument with Orchestra [Piano], Composition, Correpetition, Lied & Oratorio and Opera Singing- upon the grounds of the extensive artistic/pedagogical experience of Maestro Gómez-Martínez, who will apply the precepts and methodologies of the Vienna School originally advocated by his mentor, legendary Professor Hans Swarovsky. The IMMC feature an Official Study Plan validated by the Polytechnic University of Madrid, which will extend the Academic Certificate to all Participants who successfully satisfy the IMMC. Additionally, outstanding Participants will be rewarded with the GMIF Certificate of Artistic Excellence. IMMC s official venue, The Madrid Royal Superior Conservatory of Music, will be the first musical institution to take in such an ambitious academic/artistic programme. Furthermore, the GMIF will award the I International Orchestra Conducting Award and the I International Composition Award to the best contenders in each area. The GMIF will grant 118 Study Scholarships to the accepted instrumentalists selected as Active Participants in the Orchestral Training Area and members of the IMMC s Young International Philharmonic Orchestra (YIPO), which will be performing three concerts -two symphonic and an opera in concert- conducted by Maestro Gómez-Martínez and selected Active Conductors upon the official IMMC repertoire. These three concerts will take place on June 30th and July 14 th & July 21 st on several historical locations of Madrid and will be broadcasted on radio and TV. The IMMC will also feature a Conference Seminar that will gather an extensive roster of more than 30 guest professors and specialists -conductors, composers, musicologists, managers, researchers, critics and academics-. This will be presented in a symposium format with panels, debates and conferences related to the curricular body of the IMMC.

A R E A S O F S T U D Y ORCHESTRA CONDUCTING Orchestra Conducting is the core and main area of the IMMC. Directed by Maestro Miguel Ángel Gómez-Martínez, this area endorses the methodologies of the Vienna School (University of Music and Dramatic Art of Vienna) advocated by the legendary Professor Hans Swarovsky, of whom Gómez-Martínez is direct successor. In its development all interwoven areas will converge towards the final objective: the direction of symphonic concerts and operas. GMIF will award the I International Orchestra Conducting Prize to the Active Participant who demonstrates greater technical, academic and artistic excellence. ORCHESTRAL TRAINING The Orchestra Training area is not only an artistic challenge of great importance, a specialized training for instrumentalists who wish to be part of a symphony orchestra and an unprecedented call as well, but it also represents the chance of celebrating the link between different cultures represented by the musicians themselves. The Area will offer its participants the opportunity to work with the most prestigious soloists from European orchestras. Active Participants of this area will become members of the Young International Philharmonic Orchestra (YIPO) which will be performing the symphonic concerts of the CMIM and the opera chosen in concert version. SOLO INSTRUMENT WITH ORCHESTRA [PIANO] The area of Instrument with Orchestra [Piano], directed by Maestro Mr. Joaquín Achúcarro is aimed to reinforce the Participants with the most advanced performing and artistic skills in recital and symphonic concerts. Several Active Participants will be picked up upon the basis of their quality in order to perform as solo pianists on the two concert programmes scheduled as part of the IMMC. Active Participants will benefit from a IMMC Scholarship. COMPOSITION Divided into Technique and Analysis and History and Style, it will be mentored by some of the most honoured, widely-recognized Spanish composers -Mº Antón García Abril, Cristóbal Halffter, Tomás Marco, Lorenzo Palomo, José Mª Sánchez-Verdú and José Nieto- and include theoretical and practical classes of great interest. The I International Composition Prize will be awarded to the best participant composer, his work being performed by the International Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. CORREPETICIÓN, LIED & ORATORIO Correpetition, Lied and Oratorio area integrates two specialties: Correpetition and Lied for Pianists and Singers. While Correpetition, a novel specialty in its format and structure, offers a series of contents that in are not clearly defined or developed as such in our country, covering such a complex subject as is the rehearsal, staging and representation of an opera, Lied for Pianists and Singers will prepare the seldom in Lied repertoire and technique. OPERA SINGING The Opera Singing will offer its Participants a direct and practical experience with the characteristics of operatic vocal performance, as well as an improvement in technique and dramatic interpretation that will culminate in the assembly and performance of an opera in concert.

T E A C H I N G S T A F F Under Maestro Gómez-Martínez s direction, the IMMC gather a truly exceptional teaching staff comprised by prestigious maestros, artists and teachers from such orchestras as the National Orchestra of Spain, RTVE Symphony Orchestra & Choir, the Madrid Symphony Orchestra, the Community of Madrid Orchestra, the Valencia Orchestra, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig.
