Invitation to Song 2018-2019 Season
WHO WE ARE The Pittsburgh Camerata is a professional vocal ensemble which has been presenting choral concerts in Pittsburgh since 1974. WHAT WE DO We sing music you won t hear performed anywhere else in Pittsburgh. Some is from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Some is 20th or 21st century music. The remainder might be from any era. All of this music is intended to be sung by a small choir in an intimate space. ABOUT OUR CONCERTS We sing one or two performances of each of five concerts. The first set of performances takes place in October, the second set in December, the third set in February, the one-time performance of Messiah takes place in April and the last performance of the season takes place once, in June. A MESSAGE FROM ARTISTIC DIRECTOR MARK ANDERSON Welcome Home! Welcome to our 45th season, and my third season as Artistic Director. Whether you are new to the Camerata or have been one of our faithful followers in seasons past, we are grateful for your interest in our ensemble, and are excited about our concerts this season. Join us as we sing of journeys, of angels, marvel at worlds beyond, revel in the glory of a beloved masterwork, and delight in the charms of the formality and frivolity of music from across the pond! As Pittsburgh s professional vocal ensemble, we are deeply interested in bringing our love of music-making to all parts of Allegheny County and beyond. In addition to maintaining our home base in the East End, we have expanded our outreach into Fox Chapel and the South Hills. As we expand our visibility, we hope you will help us expand our following by inviting friends and family who have not yet heard us sing. Not only do we want to sing for you, we want to get to know you. We want to get to know the guests you bring with you. Come visit us at our receptions, let us hear from you through our Facebook page, contact us through our website. Let us know what it is that has brought you to us, and what keeps bringing you back! Again, welcome home to our 45th season. Warmly, Mark A native of Montana, Mark Andrew Anderson began serving as the Artistic Director of The Pittsburgh Camerata in April 2016. He is also Director of Music at Shadyside Presbyterian Church since September 2011.
