PASAA A Journal of Language Teaching and Learning in Thailand Call for Papers Volume 44, July 2012 The PASAA Journal is a scholarly, peer-reviewed English language journal of Chulalongkorn University Language Institute, Thailand. It is also the oldest professional English language teaching (ELT) journal in the country. The Journal is committed to facilitating the co-construction and dissemination of rigorous scholarship in the field for both local and international communities of ELT professionals. With local and international contributors and readership, The PASAA Journal has established itself as a thriving forum for the scholarly publication of full-length research and academic articles, short discussion papers, and book reviews. The Journal publishes original manuscripts and welcomes contributions in the areas of current ELT enquiry, including second/foreign language learning and teaching, materials development, testing and evaluation, curriculum design and development, and teacher training and professional development. Two issues are published annually. SUBMISSION CATEGORIES Research articles must be based on an interesting, relevant and recent empirical research study of no older than 3 years. Articles including references, and appendices should not exceed 25 pages and must be accompanied by an abstract of no longer than 200 words. Academic articles analyze and discuss relevant up-to-date research issues. They may be in the form of systematic reviews or literature reviews, and be no longer than 10 pages. They must be accompanied by an abstract of no longer than 200 words. Short discussion papers provide thoughts on any aspect of English language teaching issues and/or offer research tips and techniques for English as a Second
Language (ESL) and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers and practitioners, and should not be longer than 7 pages. Book reviews must be based on books in the area of English language teaching and learning, assessment and evaluation, analyzing their content, style and merit, and be no longer than 3 pages. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS When submitting a manuscript, please adhere to the following: 1. Manuscripts must be typewritten only in MS Document format, 12-point Times New Roman font, and 1.5 lines spacing. 2. All submitted manuscripts must conform to the stylistic guidelines prescribed by the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 6 th Edition (2010). 3. A bio-data of 50 words, an email address, as well as affiliation must accompany each submission. 4. Specify in an accompanying email which category your submission is - a fulllength research, academic article, book review or short discussion paper. Remarks The submitted manuscript must not have been previously published nor under consideration for being published by any other journal. Submissions that have not followed the above requirements will not be acknowledged or considered. REVIEW POLICY Manuscripts will be firstly screened by the editorial team. If a manuscript is of insufficient quality or lies outside the scope of the journal, it may be rejected at this stage. However, if approved, it will be passed on to one or two more anonymous reviewers according to their expertise and their availability. The double-blind review
process will be used. The editorial team reserves the right to accept or reject articles and unpublished manuscripts will not be returned.
