VIOLIN 2017-2018 FOA All-State Information & Audition Materials Auditions for All-State Orchestra are open to 7th & 8th Grade Orchestra Students participating in their school orchestra. These auditions are recorded live in early- to mid- September each year (September 16 th, 2017). Students selected to be part of the All-State Orchestra travel to Tampa in early January for 3 days of rehearsals with an extraordinary clinician (January 11-14, 2017). In the morning of the third day, Saturday there is a performance. The auditions are extremely competitive, and it is suggested you begin preparing for the auditions as soon as possible, i.e. now. Be sure to work on the etudes and required scales with your private teacher, so you are wellprepared. Important dates to reserve on your calendar Monday, August 19 th, 2017 by 4p.m.: FOA audition fee of $30 (if check, payable to GMS) are due to the orchestra teacher! Monday, August 19 th, 2017 two copies of FOA Parental Agreement and two copies of FMEA Student Contract (four total) are due to the orchestra teacher. Forms may be obtained in the orchestra office or downloaded from the following link: http://myfoa.org/allstateapps Please note that if using the above link, Parental Agreement and Student Contract contain interactive fields and should be filled out on a computer before being printed and signed. In addition, please complete another, third set of Parental Agreement and Student Contract for the All-State Honors Orchestra, as a backup, if do not get selected for the All-State Auditioned Orchestra. The All-State Honors Orchestra fee is covered by school. Saturday, August 27 th, 2017, 9:30am.-4:40p.m.: UCF All-State Preparation Clinic. It is free, but students need to pre-register and email Ayako Yonetani to confirm their pre-registration. All scales and arpeggios are to be MEMORIZED. Scales and arpeggios will be played in even eighth notes using separate bows. Quarter = 60-80 Violin: Viola: Cello: Bass: All scales and arpeggios must be two octaves. All scales and arpeggios must be two octaves. All scales and arpeggios must be two octaves.
