REGULATIONS IV International Musical Performance Competition for Strings, Woodwind and Chamber music Premio Clivis 2017 Art. 1. The «Accademia Musicale Clivis» Cultural Association of Rome presents the fourth edition of the Premio Clivis International Musical Performance Competition, for young musicians of any nationality for Strings, Woodwind and Chamber Music. The competition aims at promoting musical culture, especially among young people, and to encourage emerging talented musicians. The competition will take place in Rome from 26 th 28 th May 2017 at the Auditorium of the Seraphicum, Via del Serafico 1, Rome. Art. 2. Auditions will be public and candidates will be divided into sections, and each of these into categories according to age. For sections I Strings and II Woodwind are provided separate sections for solo instrument. For section III Chamber music candidates will be divided into categories according to age. Section I STRINGS (soloists) - separate sections A) Violin B) Viola C) Cello D) Double bass I Strings (A Violin) Cat. Section III CHAMBER MUSIC Cat. Mini Young musicians whose average age of the competitors does not exceed 12 years: maximum duration 10 Cat. 1 - Young musicians whose average age of the competitors does not exceed 15 years: maximum duration 15 Cat. 2 - Young musicians whose average age of the competitors does not exceed 18 years: maximum duration 20 Cat. 3 - Young musicians whose average age of the competitors does not exceed 21 years: maximum duration 25 - the programme must provide two pieces from different eras Cat. 4 - Young musicians whose average age of the competitors does not exceed 25 years: maximum duration 30 - the programme must provide the integral execution of a significant piece of the repertoire for chamber group For section III Chamber music, pieces in the program must have a concert character The compositions will be performed in the original version; will be accepted only the transcripts made by the author. Any exceptions (e.g. Transcriptions made by important composers) must be approved by the Artistic Board. For categories Mini and Cat.1 section Chamber Music for Strings are allowed transcripts copyright. Art. 3. Candidates can take part in only one category of each section. However, registration in a higher age category is permitted. Art.4. Applications should be made on the form which can be downloaded from www.clivis.it. The form must be sent by and not after 12pm of 05 May 2017 to the following e mail address: premioclivis@gmail.com Applications must be accompanied by the following documents: - photocopy of a valid identity document - personal number - photocopy of tax code - receipt of payment of the application fee, for section I String soloists (violin, viola, cello only) as follows: Euro 35 for the Mini categories Euro 45 for categories 1-2, Euro 55 for categories 3-4, Euro 70 for categories 5-6 - receipt of payment of the application fee, for section I String soloists (double bass only) as follows: Euro 35 for the Mini categories Euro 45 for categories 1 Euro 55 for categories 2-3, Euro 70 for categories 4 - receipt of payment of the application fee, for section II Woodwind soloists (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone) as follows: Euro 35 for the Mini categories Euro 45 for categories 1-2, Euro 55 for categories 3-4, Euro 70 for categories 5 - receipt of payment of the application fee, for section III Chamber music as follows: Euro 45 for Duo and Euro 15 for each member of the Trio onwards of the categories Mini Euro 55 for Duo and Euro 20 for each member of the Trio onwards of the categories 1-2 Euro 70 for Duo and Euro 25 for each member of the Trio onwards of the categories 3-4

The competition organizers will provide all candidates with an accompanying pianist when this is requested on the application form. Those candidates wishing to make use of this service should add to the above-mentioned documents the receipt of payment of 60 to the bank account detailed in art.4, as well as the piano scores for the pieces chosen for the competition. The scores should be received by the organizers by 5 th May 2017. The fee for the pianist includes: a test of 60 minutes (to be arranged on the day and time), a short acoustic test before the competition, accompaniment of the execution. P S. Competitors of the MINI and categories Cat. 1, can reduce the time of the test at 30 minutes more a short acoustic test before the competition and accompanying on the execution, at the price of 40 on c / c mentioned art. 4. Art. 6. Neither the application fee nor the pianist fee can be returned, except in the event of cancellation of the section due to unforeseen circumstances. Art. 7. Should a member of the judges be related to, or a teacher of a candidate, this must be communicated in writing to the Jury. The said member will not take part in the evaluation of the candidate. Art. 8. The Competition Secretary will publish the category performance calendar on the Clivis website 7 days before the beginning of the Competition. The Competition Secretary will not send any information directly to candidates and declines any responsibility for any inconvenience resulting from a candidate not consulting the website. Art. 9. Candidates must arrive at the Auditorium del Seraphicum thirty minutes before the time of their audition and must bring with them a document of identification. Anyone absent at this time will be excluded from the competition and will not be reimbursed with the registration fee, except when there are serious and proven circumstances that will be evaluated by the Jury. Art. 10. The order of the auditions will be established by the drawing of a letter, which will take place on the first day of auditions. Before beginning their audition, each candidate must provide three photocopies of the pieces to be performed. All pieces must be performed in their original version or composer transcription. The music will be returned at the end of the audition. Art. 11. Candidates must adhere to the performance time limits. The jury reserves the right to interrupt a performance if it exceeds the time allowed, and to listen to one or more of the pieces again if it considers this necessary. Art. 12. The Jury, which will be nominated by the Association organizing the competition, will be made up of teachers from music conservatories, figures from the field of music, music critics, and composers and concert performers of note, as well as a secretary who will not have the right to vote. The Artistic Director and/or the President of the Associazione Clivis, or a delegate, will have an automatic place on the jury. Art. 13. The names of the members of the jury will be published on the website www.clivis.it after the closing of registration

Art. 14. Candidate assessment will be expressed in a mark out of one hundred, on a special form. The final result will be calculated as an average of the marks given by each member of the Jury, after removing the highest and lowest mark. The Jury s decision is final and irrevocable. Art. 15. All Competition auditions are public. However, members of the public are not permitted during the voting procedure. Entering or exiting during auditions is prohibited. Any kind of recording of the Competition auditions, whether audio or video, is also strictly prohibited. Art. 16. Clivis PRIZES All Prizes, both cash and other forms will be published on www.clivis.it 30 days before the competition The prizes in each section will be awarded to candidates who have reached the following scores: from 80/100 to 84/100 Merit prize - Certificate from 85/100 to 89/100 III prize in the section Certificate from 90/100 to 94/100 II prize in the section Medal and Certificate from 95/100 to 97/100 I prize in the section Plaque and Certificate from 98/100 to 100/100 I prize Laureate Money prize, Plaque and Certificate. There will be no joint prizes for the Premio Clivis (first, second and third place in the competition) or for the special prizes. In the event of a tie, the prize will be awarded to the youngest contestant. In the event of a further tie, the Jury s decision will be final. Prizes, which are taxable, cannot be combined. All candidates will be presented with a certificate of participation. Art. 17. The winners of the Premio Clivis and other special prizes, as well as the winners of the first place in each section, will perform during the prize-giving evening which will take place on 28th May 2016 (place and time to be communicated). The evening s programme will be decided by the Jury. Candidates who do not participate in the prize-giving evening will forfeit their prize. Winners will not receive payment for their performance at the prize-giving evening and will forfeit any rights regarding any audio or video recordings made during the evening. Art. 18. The Commission reserves the right not to award the Competition prizes if the standard of candidates is not considered adequate. Art. 19. In accordance with law no. 196/03 regarding privacy, candidate information will only be used for communication referring to the Competition. Art. 20 The Accademia Musicale Clivis declines all responsibility for any damage occurring to candidates and their property during the Competition. Candidates whose behavior causes damage to the image and good name of the Competition or who do not adhere to the indications laid down by the organization will be excluded from the competition and will not be reimbursed for any fees paid. Art. 21. Registration to the competition implies full acceptance of these regulations. For any unforeseen circumstances, decisions will be taken by the President of the Jury.
