INTRODUCTION Ths nstructon sheet covers the termnaton of snglemode and multmode Crcular LC Plug Kt 1828618--[ ], and the nstallaton of Receptacle Kt 1828619--[ ] or 1985193--[ ] to a panel. See Fgure 1. The sealed plug and receptacle assembles shown n Fgure 1 are used n ndustral Ethernet networks, cellular antennae, and FTTX applcatons that requre protecton from varous envronmental factors such as temporary water mmerson and/or exposure to debrs. The sealed crcular LC connector accepts tactcal cable, wth a 4.5mm -- 7.5mm outsde dameter and a par of 2.0mm jacketed subunts. Plug Kt 1828618--[ ] contans a plug assembly wth cable fttng, duplex clp, two eyelets, two LC connector assembles, and protectve covers. See Fgure 1. Receptacle Kts 1828619--[ ] and 1985193--[ ] nclude a receptacle assembly, a panel gasket, and a panel nut. See Fgure 1. Read these nstructons thoroughly before startng the assembly. ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE 2.1. Assembly of the Plug Connector 1. Slde the plug assembly over the fber jacket as shown n Fgure 2. 2. Usng a pen, mark the outer jacket at the 60mm breakout length as shown n Fgure 3. 3. Workng n sectons, slt and remove the outer jacket to the breakout mark. Fgure 2 Fgure 6 8. Usng a sharp scssors, carefully cut two slts (8mm long) on each jacket. See Fgure 7. Usng a buffer strpper, strp off the buffer n at least three peces. Usng a clean, lnt--free cloth (soaked n alcohol), remove any resdue from the fber. Fgure 3 4. Usng shears, cut the strength members and fller flush wth the jacket. See Fgure 4. Fgure 4 5. Usng the template, mark both the 2.0mm jacketed subunts at the 27mm mark and the 8mm cable slt mark. See Fgure 5. Fgure 7 9. Carefully fan back the jacket and strength members, then slde the eyelet over the strength members as shown n Fgure 8. Fgure 5 6. Remove the jacket of each subunt to the 27mm mark wth a strp tool. 7. Usng a strp template, mark each 900 m buffer at15.5mm as llustrated n Fgure 6. Fgure 8 10. After the fber has been nserted nto the connector ferrule, carefully slde the eyelet rearward to unfurl the slt jacket and strength members. Unformly dstrbute the aramd and poston the slt jacket over the rear body. 2 of 5
Refer to Instructon Sheet 408-8675, Sectons 3.4 and 3.5 for epoxy nstructons. 11. Whle holdng the connector, push the eyelet forward, as shown n Fgure 9. Fgure 11 Be sure to observe the correct fber polarty. Fgure 9 14. Place the connectors n the plug assembly as shown n Fgure 12. Properly poston the eyelet before crmpng. See Fgure 10. Fgure 12 15. Depress both latches and push the connectors nto the plug assembly untl t bottoms. See Fgure 13. You wll hear an audble clck. Fgure 10 12. Usng PRO--CRIMPER hand tool and crmpng de set 58424--1, crmp the eyelet onto the strength members and jacket. Refer to Instructon Sheet 408-8675 Sectons 3.7, 3.8, and 3.10 for epoxy curng, cleavng and polshng nstructons. 13. Snap the connectors nto the duplex clp as shown n Fgure 11. Fgure 13 3 of 5
16. Fgure 14 shows properly postoned connectors. Note that the latches are depressed. Fgure 14 17. Usng two 19mm wrenches, tghten the cable fttng to 0.68 ---- 0.90 N--m [6.0 ---- 8.0 --n--lbs]. Tghten the nut to a torque of 2.26 N--m [20 n--lbs] usng a 32mm wrench. 2.4. Assembly of the Receptacle Protectve Cover 1. Install the receptacle as descrbed n the prevous paragraph. 2. Push the loop of the lanyard over the receptacle assembly untl t snaps nto the groove of the receptacle. See Fgure 23.
