Caedmon Curriculum Polic Planning The curriculum follows a topic overview plan (see Appendix 1). Each term, the children within a ke stage (KS1, LKS2 UKS2) will have a topic to stud which will start with a hook or trip. Teachers will use the medium term plans that have been created b the curriculum coordinator (For example see Appendix 2). Each lesson will have a SMART notebook which follows the school template. Learning Objectives Each piece of work will have a title that describes the work in the book. These should be underlined with a ruler. Curriculum coverage The long term plan has been scrutinised to make sure that the national curriculum requirements have been covered for Histor, Geograph,, Art D&T., Maths, Science, RE, PE, ICT PSHE are covered b separate policies. Foundation subjects Histor / Geograph ICT Breadth of stud for each Ke Stage has been allocated will be taught through the different topics. (Appendix 1) Art DT will take place throughout the ear at an appropriate time, based on the topic. Classes are timetabled ICT suite time to complete topic based ICT work. Not all ICT work will be topic based. Linked to topic Teaching Sequence When planning for each subject area, the following structure must be adhered to. Subject Histor Geograph Art Design Technolog Introductor Lessons Timeline. Mapping skills. Observing artwork/observation. Deconstruction/initial ideas. Listening to examples of music. 2

Evidence There must be evidence of each lesson in topic books, such as: Histor timelines, writing, labelled diagrams, graphs, photographs of visits etc. Geograph map work, labelled diagrams, writing, photographs of visits, graphs etc. Art Work to be completed on trimmed (to fit in books) cartridge paper stuck in books. If work is too large or 3D, photographs should be stuck in books. D&T Ideas, planning evaluation sheets to be stuck in books. Also, photographs of finished products. photographs of children performing music. Computing Evidence of each unit of work should be printed stuck in books. Exercise Books Laout Dot date (on left) All work which is stuck in must be trimmed properl stuck in neatl b an adult in KS1. KS2 children can stick it in themselves once trained. All work on left h side. Photographs to be printed two per sheet. Marking Green highlight for something successful. Yellow highlight with a corresponding letter - A,B or C. Two spellings for KS2 one spelling for KS1. 'Super Job' Good Effort stamps onl to be used. 3

Trips/Hooks Ever topic will start with an exciting hook (preferabl a trip). Trips will take place in the first two weeks of each term. Assessment Throughout the term, staff should use the foundation subject assessment tracker to assess each child s progress in each subject area the have covered. The curriculum co-ordinator will check assessments each half term. 4
