1 Inspect Parts and Get Tools Before you begin replacing the secondary antenna s LNB with the 95W LNB, verify that you have all parts and tools needed, all system components are powered off, and the antenna s radome is removed. Verify Parts The 95W LNB Kit contains the following parts: Figure 1: Removing the Radome M7SK Radome 95W single-output LNB Power inserter with adapter #10-32 Screw (x6) s Bypass bracket kit (for HD7 systems) Customer-supplied equipment as required (see pages 6 & 7): DIRECTV SWM Multiswitch with Ports (SWM-8, -16, or -32) with or without SWM Expander (SWME2) or Non-SWM Multiswitch (Zinwell WB68) M9 Baseplate Splitters (2-way, KVH part no. 72-0177 or equivalent; 8-way, DIRECTV SWS-8) Gather Tools #2 Phillips screwdriver Cutting pliers 5/64" hex wrench 7/16" open-end wrench PC with the latest version of the Flash Update Wizard installed Remove the Radome CAUTION For your own safety, disconnect power from all wired components before proceeding. Radome #10-32 Screw (x8) Baseplate Remove the screws securing the radome to the baseplate (see Figure 1). Then carefully lift the radome straight up until it clears the antenna assembly, and set it aside in a safe place. 3

2 Replace the LNB After disconnecting power and removing the radome, follow the steps below to disconnect and remove the linear LNB in the secondary M7SK or M9 antenna, and replace it with the 95W LNB. IMPORTANT! While performing the removal and installation steps, avoid causing any sharp bends in cables. Sharp bends or kinks can degrade antenna performance. Remove the Dual or Quad Linear LNB a. Locate the LNB and note its orientation relative to the skew motor (see Figure 2). b. Using cutting pliers, cut and remove the tiewrap securing the RF cables to the LNB (Figure 2). c. Identify the cable. This is the left-most cable as shown in Figure 2 (it may be labeled, or it may be the only unlabled cable). NOTE: When you install the 95W LNB, you will need to connect the cable to the 95W LNB. All other RF cables are looped and secured with tie-wraps off to the side. d. Using a 7/16" open-end wrench, disconnect each RF cable from the LNB, taking care not to stress or kink the cables. e. Using a 5/64" hex wrench, loosen the set screws that secure the LNB in the choke feed (see Figure 3). NOTE: Earlier model antennas may have wing screws rather than set screws. Figure 2: LNB Cables,, and Orientation to Skew Motor M7SK M9 RF3 RF2 RF3 RF2 Figure 3: LNB Set Screws RF4 RF4 M4 Socket Set Screws Orientation LNB Orientation Skew Motor Skew Motor f. Remove the LNB, making sure you have noted its orientation to the skew motor so that the 95W LNB matches the same orientation when installed. Wing Screws* Choke Feed Reflector 4 *in earlier antennas

2 Continued Replace the LNB Install the 95W LNB Figure 4: Cable Connection a. Insert the 95W LNB into the choke feed with the connector-end facing away from the skew motor. b. Align the LNB to match the skew motor orientation you noted when removing the original LNB. Cable c. Using a 5/64" hex wrench, tighten the two set Unused RF Cables screws to secure the LNB in place. Apply 9 inlbs (1 N-m) of torque, if possible. Refer to Figure 3 on page 4. Figure 5: Loop and Secure the LNB and Unused Cables d. Remove the protective cap from the LNB M7SK connector. Cable e. Using a 7/16" open-end wrench, connect the cable to the LNB connector, taking care not to stress or kink the cable (see Figure 4). Torque to 15 in-lbs. f. Unused RF Cables Using the large tie-wrap supplied in the kit, secure the cables to the LNB (as shown for either antenna in Figure 5). g. Using a small tie-wrap supplied in the kit, loop and secure the unused RF cables to all RF cables in a way that prevents them from interfering with antenna movement through the entire skew and elevation ranges (see Figure 5). h. Verify that the tied-off cables cause no interference by manually rotating the skew assembly and moving the reflector up and down through its entire range of motion. IMPORTANT! Trim the excess portion of any tie-wraps you install and collect all tie-wrap trimmings to avoid damage when the antenna rotates. M9 Cable Unused RF Cables Reinstall the Radome a. Reinstall the radome onto the antenna and secure in place with the #10-32 screws you removed in Section 1. b. Install (or re-install if removed in Section 1) a protective plastic screw cap over each radome screw. 5
