CWYW citations and bibliography Cite While You Write function adds an EndNote toolbar (for Word) and an EndNote options (for Mac). CWYW allows you to insert citations for references contained in your EndNote library and automatically generates a bibliography at the end of your paper using the selected bibliographic output style. From Word : place the cursor where you want to insert the reference : Insert Citation> select a reference> Insert or Insert Citation> Find Citation> select a reference> Insert In case EndNote library is not open, click on From EndNote> select the reference> Insert Citation 8
Bibliographic output styles EndNote contains hundred of output styles for a variety of disciplines. Edit menu> Output Styles> Open Style Manager UQAT recommands APA-UQAT bibliographic output style for your work paper. If you can t find the style you are looking for : you can customize an existing output style Edit menu> Output Styles> Open Style Manager> select an existing output style> Edit you can download a new output style and save it in C:/programs/EndNote/ Styles Check the following address for more output styles : http://www.endnote.com/support/enstyles.asp 9
10 Citations and bibliographies To modify a citation contained in a Word document : o Update citations o Add or delete text from citations o Delete citations o Replace an existing bibliographic output style by another o Insert hyperlinks between in-text citations and related references in the bibliography.
Add footnotes 11 From EndNote, specify in the bibliographic output style Footnote parameters : Edit>Output sytles> Edit> Footnote> From a Word document, place the cursor where you want to add a footnote References menu > click on Back to EndNote X4 tab, insert citation with Result : or click on and select the citation.
12 Create a bibliography To create automatically a bibliography, use the CWYW function : should have your Word document and your EndNote library open. EndNote> Tools menu > CWYW> Format bibliography or Word> Bibliography> Instant formatting To customize your bibliography format : EndNote : Format bibliography > Layout Word : Bibliography> Layout
