MCC SNAPSHOT - September 2013 WELCOME TO THE 2013-2014 SEASON The first regular Program Meeting of the MCC will take place at 7:30 pm on September 5th at the Cawthra Senior's Centre We look forward to greeting former members and meeting our new members. Our presenter will be Felix Russo with the Magic of 3-D. This season marks the Mississauga Camera Club's 60th Anniversary! This calls for a new look for our Club! Please send your suggestions for a new MCC Logo to: logo@mississaugacameraclub.ca NOTES FROM THE MCC BOARD OF DIRECTORS A Welcome Letter, together with another copy of our organization chart is being sent to both new and continuing members. Some important points are: a) Guests & Visitors to MCC Program Meetings will be welcomed after the first meeting. b) New memberships will be accepted until September 5. We will suspend registration until we have introduced the new members into the club. There are approximately 40 new members, bringing our total close to last year's membership.
Our intention to re-open the membership will be announced in our new website. c) Our new website is nearing completion. There are a few details to be ironed out, more content to be added, and more testing to be done. We expect that the site will be open to both the membership and the public early thisfall. The test version looks very exciting. In the meantime we will be making full use of email, SnapShot and, for some activities, Facebook to keep everyone current on club happenings. A General Meeting is tentatively scheduled for October 3, before the Program Meeting. A notice will be sent to all members shortly. We require your attendance at the meeting in order to clear up major issues that could not completed in May because we fell just short of a quorum. In accordance with the leadership plan discussed at the General Meeting in May, Robbie Robinson will step down as President on September 1 st but will continue as a Director for 2013-2014. Marty Pinker will be President for the period September 1 - December 1, 2013. The City of Mississauga has fully endorsed the organization proposed in our Draft Revised Constitution last May and adopted on an interim basis at that time. Confirmation of this proposed Constitution will be a major item at the October 3 rd meeting. There will be a meeting of all Team and Activity Leaders on September 12. MCC PROGRAM: 2013-2014 Thursday, September 5th, 2013: The Magic of 3-D Felix Russo, publisher and editor of PhotoEd Magazine (www.photoed.ca), will present an overview of 3-D photography. Hardware & software solutions will be demonstrated. Instructions will be given on how to make your own 3-D images with any digital camera. This presentation will challenge your views on perception, both 3D and 2D. Red/cyan stereo glasses will be provided. It's a 3-D world, come and learn how to incorporate 3-D into your photography. Thursday, September 19th, 2013: Publish Your Own Photo Book Andre Souroujon, owner of Pikto Gallery/Photography in The Distillery District will inspire you to publish your own masterpiece. Thursday, October 3rd, 2013: An evening with Rafael Goldchain Professor-Program Coordinator, Bachelor of Applied Arts-Photography, Animation Arts & Design at Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning in Oakville, Ontario.'. Rafael Goldchain's photographs have been shown in Canada, Chile, the U.S., Cuba, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Mexico. His work is in private and public collections including France Biblioteque National, the Canadian Museum for Contemporary Photography, New York Museum of Modern Art, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, and San Diego Museum of Photographic Arts.
