THEATRE & DANCE 2014-2015 SEASON

University Theatre Subscription Series These Shining Lives by Melanie Marnich Directed by Cindy Gendrich September 19-20 & 25-27, 2014 at 7:30pm September 21 & 28, 2014 at 2pm Season tickets for this production need to be reserved by September 15. In the 1920s and 30s, girls who wanted to work could get good-paying jobs painting the radium dials on watch- and clock-faces. Part fairy-tale, part tragedy, These Shining Lives chronicles the stories of these radium girls, and their life-changing friendships. A luminous play about curiosity, greed, heroism, health, time, money, and hope.

University Theatre Subscription Series Clybourne Park by Bruce Norris Directed by Sharon Andrews October 31-November 1 & 6-8, 2014 at 7:30pm November 2 & 9, 2014 at 2pm Season tickets for this production need to be reserved by October 27. Picking up where Lorraine Hansberry s iconic play A Raisin in the Sun leaves off, Bruce Norris s ferocious Pulitzer Prize winning play is filled with brilliant side splitting I can t believe I m laughing at this humor and pulls no punches in its provocative look at race and real estate. Act I, it s 1959 and the neighborhood association will do anything to keep a black family from moving in but they re not racist! Act II, its 50 years later, and the same now dilapidated house is caught in the sweep of gentrification. The conflict between two middle class couples, one black the other white, over what is to become of the house, sharply and often hilariously exposes the dangerous illusions that lie beneath our politically correct ideals.

University Theatre Subscription Series Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett Directed by Brook Davis February 6-7 & 12-14, 2015 at 7:30pm February 8 & 15, 2015 at 2pm Season tickets for this production need to be reserved by February 2. Two men... A tree... Join us for Samuel Beckett s classic play performed for the first time during Wake Forest s Mainstage season.

University Theatre Subscription Series Love s Labor s Lost by William Shakespeare Directed by John E. R. Friedenberg April 3-4 & 9-11, 2015 at 7:30pm April 5 & 12, 2015 at 2pm Season tickets for this production need to be reserved by March 30. These are barren tasks, too hard to keep, Not to see ladies, study, fast, not sleep! Four best friends decide to withdraw from society for 3 years to study and learn the secrets of the universe with their fraternal brethren. These Young Men create a retreat where they can study together without the petty distractions of the world at large. Scarcely have they begun when their vows are challenged by the arrival of 4 visitors...each a child of our grandmother Eve, a female; or, for thy more sweet understanding, a woman. Watch and laugh as Shakespeare spins us this version of a tale as old as time.
