Changing from a Linear LNB to a Circular LNB The following steps explain how to change from a linear (European-type) LNB to a circular (North American-type) LNB. If you need to change from a circular LNB to a linear LNB, refer to Changing from a Circular LNB to a Linear LNB on page 6. Step 1 - Change the LNB CAUTION For your own safety, be sure to disconnect power from all wired components before performing this procedure. Figure 1 Radome Screws/LNB Types Radome Screw and Washer (x8) Baseplate a. Disconnect power from the TracVision system and any connected receivers and/or multiswitch. 2 b. Remove the eight screws and washers securing the radome (see Figure 1). Then remove the radome and set it aside in a safe place. c. Using a 7/16" open-end wrench, disconnect the RF cable from the RF connector on the LNB (see Figure 2). d. Using a 9/64" allen wrench, remove the two LNB bracket screws and washers securing the LNB (see Figure 2). e. Carefully expand the LNB bracket just wide enough to lift the LNB from the LNB bracket. Remove the LNB. f. Place the circular LNB into the LNB bracket, and orient it as shown in Figure 3. Ensure the LNB is mounted parallel to the baseplate. g. Insert the new allen screws and washers supplied in the kitpack into the LNB bracket. NOTE: Be sure to use the allen screws supplied in the kitpack to secure the LNB. The circular LNB requires shorter allen screws. h. Adjust the LNB to maintain a 3/16" gap between the LNB flange and the LNB bracket (see Figure 4). i. Hand-tighten both LNB bracket screws. Be sure to alternate the tightening of the screws to maintain a balanced grip on the LNB. j. Using a 9/64" allen wrench, tighten the two LNB bracket screws securing the LNB in the following manner: tighten one screw one full turn, then tighten the second screw one full turn; repeat until the LNB no longer rotates freely. k. Tighten the two LNB bracket screws an additional 1/4 turn. l. Reconnect the RF cable you disconnected in Step 1c on page 2 to the top RF connector on the new LNB (see Figure 5). m. Cut the center tie-wrap located on the reflector arm to release the second RF cable. Then connect the cable to the bottom RF connector on the LNB (see Figure 5). n. Reinstall the radome. Then reconnect power to the TracVision system. Step 2 - Check for Flash Wizard Updates You need to check for flash file updates to ensure you have the most current software available (see Figure 6). Follow the Flash Update Wizard s onscreen instructions to check for updates. This procedure requires a PC with the latest version of the KVH Flash Update Wizard installed and an Internet connection.
