ear reader: A while ago began a website curate all of the things had made throughout my life, in order keep a consistent and searchable record for myself, and also as a means of passing my ideas and creations other people who might enjoy them. n doing so, ve thought a lot about the process of creation in its many forms, and what it s really for. ve come believe that any creation becomes more meaningful when shared with other people, because it can uch more lives, take on new forms, and accomplish things not possible when it s squirrelled away from the rest of the world. also realized that if something were happen me, most of the things had created would live on and survive without me. Robots, artwork, written sries all of those things can exist on their own more or less right after the moment of creation. However, such is not the case with music. realized that had a lot of songs that really only existed in my head and during the actual moment was playing them. Music is something of an ethereal art form in that sense: it s something that really can only exist in the moment. Sure, music may exist recorded on hard drives or written on paper, but is that really music? would argue that it s only the skelen of it at best. The actual sound which can only exist temporarily must breathe life in it. Having thought these thoughts, realized that my music didn t have any such skeletal form, and therefore it really had no means of being enjoyed by anyone without me playing it. And so began the process of writing it all out, so that anyone could enjoy it any time. And m extremely glad did because in doing so realized something about my music that hadn t known before. Many of these songs read as prayers, and often play them as such. n writing them out, it became quickly apparent me that didn t have the skill play these songs, much less write them. discovered key changes and time signature changes didn t know had included, lots of complex dotted quarter and eighth note passages with syncopated rhythms found after having written out many of the songs that if were look in a songbook and see this music, would quickly pass over it believing wouldn t be able play it. That leads me believe that must have had a lot of help writing them, and is the reason m very glad ok the effort give these songs a means of transmission other people. f these were just little ditties d come up with on my own, and they ceased exist without me, wouldn t be o bothered by it.
