New ISDCF Document in process: Delivery of non standard extension content for Digital Cinema (Dean/Jerry) 5. Update the Digital Cinema Language code document (Harold) and post to ISDCF Technical Document page (Jerry) 6. Update and post the video track in audio channel 15 document to the ISDCF Technical Document webpage (Mike to finish document, Jerry to post) 7. Request to SMPTE to include descriptors for video track in MCA documents and CPL Metadata documents. (Unassigned) 8. Add description of SL sign language video to the Digital Cinema Naming Convention. (Jerry) 9. ISDCF will request a Class 13 block for registering sign language names. From Earlier Meetings: 10.Consider a revision of SMPTE 429-7 Table 5 to update the should for markers that are required to be part of the CPL metadata. 11.Consider the accessibility of SMPTE documents to make them more useful to non-smpte members. The industry is hurt by not having these standards used..need for an ISDCF recommended practice for what to expect in the CPL metadata. It will point to the appropriate SMPTE documents for the true authority, but it is targeted at general users (exhibitors) for layman language on what is in the metadata. (who? Steve/Jerry will start) 13.SMPTE 25css will consider ISDCF immersive sound plugfest 14.Create a generic ISDCF framing chart to be freely shared (Eikon/Bill H/ Ernie) 15.Techie group to discuss RPL timing - Harold, Dean/JP (Dolby), Tim R ISDCF Meeting October 19, 2017 Meeting Notes Version 2 Page! 2/!

Jerry to send emails to Harold. 16.Subgroup to edit / recommend changes for Document - RP for Ingest Behavior - Steve L to lead, Dean B, John H, Mike R, Jim W, Chris W, Bill E volunteered to participate. ISDCF Forum: Traffic continues, very few new postings. SMPTE-DCP Test Material Encrypted content now available - it s being used!! There is a new procedure for getting KDMs - no longer a manual process. Visit isdcf dot com/t/ for more information. A document is posted on how to get a KDM. EDCF has their own test content that they are distributing. Disney is moving to distribute SMPTE-DCP to Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan. That is what is generating the requests for test content. FYI: KDM Test Issues - We are not creating KDMs for software players or any DCP creator. These tests are not for re-distribution, nor for testing of non-playback equipment. If someone really wants the unencrypted content, it is posted. SMPTE-DCP Updates Universal - Happy Death Day Subtitle adventures and debugging - got it all to work. Version for Latin America released as SMPTE version file - all good! Thank you for your Service and Pitch Perfect 3 will be released in SMPTE-DCP International also moving forward - they don t want to do dual inventory, but expected to be needed during transition. Trailers delivered in SMPTE-DCP on SMPTE-DCP Drives (Trailers are made similar to ISDCF test content type A - AKA SMPTE-Lite.) This really matters for drive delivery, not so much for satellite/network delivery. ISDCF Meeting October 19, 2017 Meeting Notes Version 2 Page! 3/!

Fox Mountain between Us - NO ERRORS Kingsman - wider release 0.1% issue Murder on the Orient Express Aiming for complete move to SMPTE-DCP in next 6 months or so Paramount Suburbicon and a batch more. Daddy s Home 2 Secret of King M Following the other studios in moving to all SMPTE-DCP Disney Thor Message in process for phase out of Interop-DCP to be sent to exhibitors. Trailers will remain Interop-DCP until everyone has completely shifted to SMPTE-DCP. WB GeoStorm No one attending the meeting. Sony No one attending the meeting. Lionsgate Working on a way to join the others. Festivals? Many are using SMTPE-DCP-Lite (Type A content) since cheap authoring tools are moving away from Interop-DCP What s delivered Interop by studios: 700 sites still Interop (US/Canada) TCC2 sites - making changes - 200 fall into this category - 150 are ISDCF Meeting October 19, 2017 Meeting Notes Version 2 Page! 4/!

slowly making upgrades. DSS100 patch available - need pressure to upgrade - 287 sites (600 screens) Unknown - just need help - 280 sites Every week more sites are being added to the ready to go list. Language Discussion for HI/VI tracks Accessibility equipment - symbol maintained as HI/VI All in the name: weaning off the terms "Hearing Impaired" and "Visually Impaired" within some SMPTE documents relating to HI/VI equipment. Move to: Assisted Listening Track; Audio Description Track Deaf and Hard of Hearing; Blind and Low Vision ALD s, or Assistive Listening Devices. The visually impaired audio track is referred to as AD, Audio Description and the text is referred to as CCap Closed Captions Action Item: change the naming convention language on charts New ISDCF Document in process: Delivery of non standard extension content for Digital Cinema Discussion for Alt Delivery of Content At the last meeting we started the discussion on creating a recommendation for delivery of alternate content. We added to Digital Cinema Language Codes an ISDCF Recommendation: ISDCF Meeting October 19, 2017 Meeting Notes Version 2 Page! 5/!

ISDCF recommends that the SYSTEM (server/closed caption rendering) implement a method to direct outputs of a class of languages to a specific channel (e.g., channel 1 is Spanish, channel 2 English, etc.) for each theater. The channel would have a set of rules for language tag priority (in case there are two region subtags for the same language). The selection would be part of the UI of the system. We should make it clear that certain digital cinema naming convention codes ARE NOT to be used for CPL metadata. Update made and posted to ISDCF site. Brazil Sign Language Thomas/Sperling went to Brazil and provided a report ANCINE seems to be supportive of a DCP delivery solution. Exhibitors are asking for a delay. Exhibitors are asking for low cost solutions. Some like the video solution, but others want to support an avatar solution. Avatar solutions require a sign language dictionary/glossary, which may not be available in the desired language. Lots of confusion/ politics going on, including sign language interpreters promoting the video solution. GCF (Global Cinema Federation) statement, desire for end to end solution and serious consideration for avatar timed/text solution. ANCINE / Exhibitor - Brazil meeting being held on October 27 There was discussion on how to deliver the video to the patron device in the theater. The current IR audio solutions use an FM (Frequency Modulation - analog) delivery method. (Probably the equivalent of 32Kb/s compared to the 1,400Kb/s needed to carry video.) Companies can provide solutions that deliver compressed video to the patron device - although no solutions currently have been demonstrated. ISDCF Meeting October 19, 2017 Meeting Notes Version 2 Page! 6/!

(Lunch Break) Video Spec to ISDCF documents Studios are delivering sign language on audio channel 15 with VC9. The studios have provided a document that they would like to include in the ISDCF technical documents. We discussed in the meetings and the result has been posted to the ISDCF website. One issue is that if we adopt this document and it becomes common use, it might eliminate the ability to delivery 96Khz audio. Not a complaint, but needed to be explicitly described. Now posted to ISDCF Document 13 - Sign Language Video Encoding for Digital Cinema (a document under development) Under consideration only: http://isdcf.com/papers/isdcf-doc13-sign-language-video-encoding-for- Digital-Cinema.pdf To collect comments and corrections go to https://github.com/isdcf/sign- Language-Video-Encoding There is a need to add this information to CPL metadata and/or metadata for the track description. This would need to be added to the SMPTE documents. ISDCF will request a Class 13 block for registering these names. Request to add Video Tracks to ISDCF naming convention. Adding SL for sign language to the naming convention. Note that SL is used for Slovenian in Appendix #1ab Frequently Used Language Codes, but there are similar collisions for alternatives to using the code SL for Sign Language. Probably not a problem, as the fields are different. ISDCF Meeting October 19, 2017 Meeting Notes Version 2 Page! 7/!

Request to add aspect ratio for trailers. The data is already included in CPL metadata - no desire to further push Naming convention, which is mainly an Interop-DCP relic. There are errors for some of the examples on the digital cinema naming convention. We will try to correct. A German translation of the Digital Cinema Naming Chart was provided. We would be willing to link to an outside website that posts the chart, but it should not be posted to ISDCF. com / dcnc site. Security of WiFi - be afraid! Known breach has been shown. If you have a theater secure network you are vulnerable. Patches are needed on both sides (transmitter / receiver) to provide protection. See http://isdcf.com/forum/viewtopic.php? f=3&t=1992&sid=6a06aa3e8548ce101fd7afc0a9a2d49a Trailer and Feature Sound Levels A report was given on an in-theater survey for sound levels: Cinema Company Fader Settings on Trailers At reference (7.0) or higher = 6% Between 5.0 and 6.9 = 40% Below 5.0 = 54% Cinema Company Fader Settings on Features At reference (7.0) or higher = 18% Between 5.0 and 6.9 = 56% Below 5.0 = 26% ISDCF Meeting October 19, 2017 Meeting Notes Version 2 Page! 8/!

It seems theater operators have responded to customer complaints by turning down the levels in the theater. The Industry May Need to Change the Trailer Audio Standard, the Cinema Audio Reference Level, or Both. This information was given at an AES conference in NY. Most theaters can program a macro to automatically change the volume levels during a show play list. There may be some activity to try and change the standards for trailer levels. JDCF - Closing Review JDCF is closing down. Yoshi provides information on JDCF that started in 2013. DCI Security Errata published What does it mean? Addresses some FIPS issues. Plugfest for immersive sound? Not yet. FLM/X is done and being used. Modems are still being used for some KDM delivery We were asked if there was interest in an open source solution for automated delivery of KDMs via email. Not a lot of interest from the group, although there was a connection formed. ISDCF Meeting October 19, 2017 Meeting Notes Version 2 Page! 9/!

HDR recommended? LED walls? No update at this time. = Attendance on next page. ISDCF Meeting October 19, 2017 Meeting Notes Version 2 Page! 10/!
