This festival, a celebration of cante, brings South Florida audiences a unique opportunity to enjoy an art form that is seldom heard outside of Spain. The deep emotions that emanate from flamenco song unite with the intricate fury of dance in a unique performance that will exhilarate audiences with an up-close experience. This year s festival features acclaimed Spanish singers Morenito de Illora, Joselito Montoya "Morenito hijo" and Rocio Bazan, exceptional guitarist Paco Fernandez, and world-renowned dancer Angel Rojas. Siempre Flamenco's founding members Paco and Celia Fonta will join the ensemble, with their guitar and dance respectively, and complete this terrific lineup of flamenco artists. Celia and Paco are the recipients of the 2016 Florida Folk Heritage award, the state's highest honor for folk and traditional arts. City Theatre and the Adrienne Arsht Center present BUILDING THE WALL September 21-October 8, 2017 Tickets: $34, $39, $44 & $54 Carnival Studio Theater Adrienne Arsht Center Written by Robert Schenkkan immediately prior to the recent presidential election, inspired by candidate Donald Trump and his anti-immigration campaign rhetoric, BUILDING THE WALL reveals a scenario of how campaign promises made law might lead to a terrifying, seemingly inconceivable, yet inevitable conclusion. The drama is set in the very near future, following the election, as a Trump administration carries out its promise to round up and detain millions of immigrants after a terrorist attack in Times Square. This riveting, harrowing and illuminating drama delivers a powerful warning and puts a human face on the inhuman, revealing how the inconceivable becomes inevitable when personal accountability is denied. City Theatre Artistic Director Margaret Ledford will direct Schenkkan's cautionary tale.

Miami City Ballet s presents PROGRAM ONE: JEWELS October 20-22, 2017 Tickets: $25, $45, $75, $105 & $195* Ziff Ballet Opera House Adrienne Arsht Center Jewels, wrote the hypercritical Robert Garis, is a work of genius both as a work of art and as show business, which is why for 50 years now it has captivated audiences around the world. Emeralds The lush music of Fauré, the glowing aura of a woodland glade, Balanchine at his most romantic and lyrical. Rubies Glittering, witty, jazzy: the Balanchine-Stravinsky partnership at its most scintillating. Diamonds Balanchine reaching back to the classic grandeur of 19th-century Russian ballet at its imperial height. The Adrienne Arsht Center presents LUDOVICO EINAUDI ENSEMBLE: ELEMENTS October 22, 2017 at 8 p.m. Tickets: $25, $40, $60 & $75* John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall Adrienne Arsht Center Part of the 2017-2018 Knight Masterworks Classical Music Series Making his Arsht Center debut, Ludovico Einaudi, composer and piano sensation, brings his luminous, emotive and effortlessly lyrical music to the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall stage. Recognized as the most streamed classical artist in the world, Ludovico Einaudi recently occupied all top 10 positions on the itunes classical singles chart and has 400,000 followers on Spotify, surpassing Beethoven and Mozart. Ludovico Einaudi has attracted an ever-growing audience over the last two decades whose diversity and devotion are without parallel. He has released a series of chart-topping albums, sells out the most prestigious concert halls worldwide, composed a string of award-winning film scores, routinely tops audience polls, and became an internet phenomenon. His fans include Nicki Minaj, Iggy Pop, Ricky Gervais, and pianist Lang Lang. With a unique musical alchemy that draws on elements of classical, rock, electronica and world music, Ludovico Einaudi has rendered traditional ideas of genre and became not only one of the best-known composers in the world, but also the best loved too. Elements is the highest charting modern classical album since Henryk Gorecki s Symphony of Sorrowful Songs peaked at number six in 1992. The album was released in 2015 and topped the classical charts in the UK. Zoetic Stage and the Adrienne Arsht Center present TOPDOG/UNDERDOG by Suzan-Lori Parks November 2-19, 2017 Tickets: $50* Carnival Studio Theater Adrienne Arsht Center Part of the 2017-2018 Theater Up Close Series Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, TOPDOG/UNDERDOG is a darkly comic tale of brotherhood and family identity. Haunted by the past, the brothers are forced to confront the shattering reality of their future.
