Explore our exhibitions with your class through artist-led workshops sessions or self-directed visits as well as resources to support your learning. For teachers wishing to lead their own visit, entrance to the gallery is free of charge, but booking is essential. THE FOLLOWING ARE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR USE, AND ARE BOOKABLE IN ADVANCE: Tactile self-directed resources Class-sized lockers Indoor picnic area. GET PREPARED RESOURCES (IN-GALLERY AND ONLINE) Take a look at some of the resource kits you can borrow to support your self-directed activity in the gallery: TEACHERS INFORMATION PACK (Download from our website) Practical information about your visit, including an overview of the gallery and collection, key themes and suggested activities. DRAWING AT THE HEPWORTH WAKEFIELD (Download from our website) Creative ideas for sketching and drawing your way around the galleries. Use in conjunction with the Art Kit. ART KIT ( 10) A selection of materials that you can use in the galleries, providing clipboards, pencils and paper for up to 33 pupils. EARLY YEARS EXPLORER KIT ( 5) Ride on the magic carpet and create stories using tactile objects, build your own sculptures using wooden shapes and make colourful window pictures. Use with up to 15 children at any one time. REG THE SENSORY SNAKE ( 5) Naughty Reg has eaten shapes from the sculptures! Our sensory snake can be used to help your class navigate the galleries. EXPLORING SCULPTURE RESOURCE BAGS ( 5) Using a range of materials to share ideas and experiences, explore imagination, relationships and meanings. Get thinking about sculpture and what informs and influences a sculptor when making work. Use with up to 33 pupils. SENSE OF PLACE RESOURCE BAGS ( 5) Explore the gallery to make connections between artists, places and works of art. Contains viewfinders, binoculars, handling objects and landscape images to use with up to 33 pupils. GET INSPIRED EARLY YEARS SESSIONS: Walking with Giants Explore the gallery through literacy, performance and den-building. Wiggle Ping Pop! Develop movement, sound and song that can be performed in the galleries. PRIMARY SESSIONS ART: Exploring 2D 3D Investigate 2D and 3D artworks and develop your own drawings and sculptural forms. Choose your focus: Clay Modelling, Mixed Media Construction or Body Sculptures. Make Your Mark Fun drawing exercises that develop observational and communication skills. Sensory Landscapes Engage your senses and create mixed-media landscape artworks. Think, Ink, Print Create drawings and explore various printmaking processes. Fabulous Felt Make layered drawings and colourful felted fabrics, exploring shape, line and colour. Master the Plaster Explore Barbara Hepworth s plasters to inspire your own plaster creations. Choose your focus: Bas-relief or Maquette Forms. All standard sessions cost from 100. EXPLORE, CREATE AND PLAY WITH YOUR EARLY YEARS AND PRIMARY GROUPS: All artist-led activities use the gallery as inspiration Artist-led sessions for Early Years groups last between 1 1.5 hours and can accommodate either 30 Reception children, or 15 younger children Primary artist-led sessions can be differentiated between KS1 & 2 and may be tailored to meet the needs of your group. Most sessions last 2 hours, and accommodate up to 33 children.

Choose your focus: Drama or Creative Writing. Sensory Poems Devise and perform original poems through group work and creative thinking. The Day the Sculptures Came to Life Become reporters, eyewitnesses and the sculptures, and create a video broadcast capturing your big story. PRIMARY SESSIONS MUSIC: Geometric Soundscapes Develop graphic scores inspired by shapes, angles and colours and perform original musical compositions. PRIMARY SESSIONS EXPLORE ART: Explore & Create Explore our temporary exhibitions through looking, listening, discussion and debate. Choose a focus: Drawing, Sculpture or Drama. All standard sessions cost from 100. CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR TEACHERS The Hepworth Wakefield is committed to supporting teachers in preparation for visits and in skills development. CREATIVE LEARNING NETWORK The Creative Learning Network offers schools, arts organisations and creative practitioners six artist-led CPD sessions, each tailored towards your teaching. They will offer creative approaches to tackle the National Curriculum and ideas to take directly back to the classroom. All-staff Look Plan Play sessions can be booked by contacting our Learning Team. GALLERY-BASED INSET TRAINING SESSIONS Break free from the classroom with day-long INSET sessions for up to a maximum of 15 school staff, which will help to build staff confidence, develop new skills and increase creativity in the classroom through focused enrichment and development opportunities.

A pay and display coach park can be found on Quebec Street (WF2 9SA), just 3 minutes drive from the gallery We are just 1 mile from Wakefield Westgate train station, and less than 10 minutes walk from Wakefield Kirkgate train station.
