1. Instruction and Cautions 1.1 Instruction Thank you for purchasing OUR DVR. This manual is for DVR users. In this manual, you can get information on using method and general instructions for operation. DVR is the advanced technology device requiring users to understand the whole instructions in this manual well before using the device. When reinstalling the program for update or any solutions, contact the local supplier or attached contact point in warranty card. DVR is the high-tech device for security and monitoring system which will satisfy users need with its incomparable stability and convenience.

1. Instruction and Cautions 1.2 Cautions Keep this device out of the direct rays of the sun or the places near heating system. Avoid any dampness, dusts and soot when installing. Keep away from shocks and magnetism. Avoid the place where the temperature is too high or too low. Configuring Monitoring Screens 3.1 Monitoring Screens and Buttons Status window and LED Time and Date Set the time and the date exactly as the data is used for the important standard of recording and searching. Reboot the system to set the correct time in Bios Setup or Control Panel on Windows. [Note] Part of or entire existing data will be removed with the time change to avoid the collision of recording data. Status windows Display current screen status which could be converted to 4 screens as followings by selecting the button. Check / General monitoring / Backup Check : Display the blink of orange lamp when it detects any problems in the screen, and "No Video Signal" message pops up in the troubled screen. * Check the camera input screen when this lamp is on. General monitoring : Display general monitoring status. This lamp also displays 2 different status of Duplex mode in the search screen as below. * The Duplex function can be set in recording/schedule of configuration screen. No recording : General monitoring and searching mode with a low rate of importance displaying no recording status in searching. Recording with search : Display recoding status in searching with a high rate of importance, while recorded in the lower recording frame than the normal settings as searching and recording take place at the same time. Backup : Display user's selection of automatic backup function using DAT(Digital Audio Tape) while monitoring the screens.

3. Configuring Monitoring Screens 3.1 Monitoring Screens and Buttons Main Buttons Exit : For ending the system or programs. Users should use the password to end any programs. Backup : For auto-backup using DAT. This button is activated with backup settings after installing DAT. Search : To search for the recording data. Search screen consists of the general search and the detailed search. Settings : To change any settings of DVR, and this contains 7 different setting areas. Pan/Tilt : To adjust Pan/Tilt of camera up and down, right and left. This function is activated by setting Pan/Tilt in the configuration.

3. Configuring Monitoring Screens 3.1 Monitoring Screens and Buttons Camera status button Shows the status of camera on the current screen by colors. Users can get the information easily on each camera's status. Off-use : Displays when it is selected as the user does not use the camera. On-use : Displays when it is selected as the user is using the camera. Current status of image window : Displays the current image of camera on the divided screens. Status of the main monitoring window : Displays the camera selected as main monitoring window on the unequally-divided screen. Status of the main searching window : Displays the camera selected as main searching window. Button to display the status of sensor/control See also 4.2 Setting Camera and Sensor/Alarm Status of sensor enable : The lamp turns on for the certain time after the sensor detection to run the linked camera and alarm. Status of alarm enable : The lamp turns on for the certain time after receiving any signals from sensor and motion detection to run the linked alarm.

Configuring Monitoring Screens 3.2 Screen partition option Control button for screen partition (Full) Control button for the equal division 1 screen partition : One screen in the full screen size. 4 screen partition : Divides the screen into 4. 9 screen partition : Divides the screen into 9. 16 screen partition : Divides the screen into 16. Control button for the unequal division 1+5 screen partition : Changes into one main monitoring screen and 5 sub-screens 1+7 screen partition : Changes into one main monitoring screen and 7 sub-screens 1+9 screen partition : Changes into one main monitoring screen and 9 sub-screens 1+16 screen partition : Changes into one main monitoring screen and 16 sub-screens Click to change the divided screen into the main screen, and click to change the main monitoring screen into the full screen size. Monitoring rotation button and the full screen button Monitoring rotation button : Changes each divided screens to monitor in order for a certain time. Full screen button : Changes the selected screen to a full screen size without displaying any menu. (Or click the right-mouse button on the divided screen to display the full screen.)

3. Configuring Monitoring Screen 3.3 Pan/Tilt Screen control RX Receiver for the operation of Pan/Tilt can be set in Network/External Devices of Settings screen. Pan/Tilt screen button is not activated unless RX Receiver is installed for the operation of Pan/Tilt. Press to change Pan/Tilt button on the monitoring screen into Pan/Tilt screen. Pan/Tilt button : For cameras of function controlled Four-direction button Operating camera selection button : Only cameras with Receiver can be activated. Select the screen to choose the number of the camera. Zoom button : Only available for the camera supporting zooming function. Focus button : Only available for the camera supporting focusing function. P.SET button : Available for camera pre set of position. SCAN button : Available for camera scanning. TOUR button : Available for camera touring Advanced Pen.Tilt button : Display advanced pan/tilt control mode. Control Indicator : Displayed last control button set.

4. Configuring Search Screen 4.1 Search screen and the buttons Camera#1 Camera#2 Camera #3 Search screen consists of the general search and the detailed search, Camera#4 Camera#5 Camera#6 General search includes the general information about search such as the date, the time and the recording status, Camera#7 Camera#8 Detailed Video Search screen includes more detailed information such as panorama screens, zoom-out/zoomin/print/image adjustment of the search screen. 4. Configuring Search Screen 4.2 Selecting the date and the time of search Detailed Video Search button : To search for the detailed information of the searching data. (Zoom-in or zoom-out of the screen, color adjustment, printing etc.) DAT Backup Data Search button : To read and search the backup data in DAT. Calendar : Select the year and the month with up and down keys to set the date as selected. Recording status is displayed by colors as below. 2 1 10 Date in black : No data saved Date in green : Data saved Date in red : Data selected for search Double-click the date in Calendar to display Video Search window as below in the middle of the screen. Select the time in this window. Number of the camera : The same camera number as in the monitoring screen. Saved data information : You can see in which type each camera and time zone has been saved in full display. Time zone : Displays 0 to 24 o'clock by 30 minutes. Drag the mouse to the time zone to be selected.

4. Configuring Search Screen 4.3 Playing the search screen Search button Be sure to use search button panel after selecting the exact date and time in Calendar and Video Search window. Play button : Play the searched data forward at normal speed. Fast play button : Play the searched data forward at high speed. Backward play button : Play the searched data backward. Next button : Play the searched data forward screen by screen. Previous button : Play the searched data backward screen by screen. Stop button : Stop playing the searched data. Navigation bar : Display the location of processing data searched in the selected time zone. Drag the bar to search the time zone faster.

Configuring Search Screen 4.4 Playing Detailed Video Search Detailed Video Search Detailed Video Search consists of main search screen and the thumbnail screen which enables users to search the target frame easily during the rapid searching process. Press the thumbnail button to inactivate this function. Detailed Video Search screen Main search screen Screen for play, zoom-in, zoomout and color adjustment of the searched image. Color adjustment button Button to adjust the brightness or the hue of the searched image. Zoom-in, zoom-out / navigation Button for zoom-in, zoom-out and navigation of the searched image. Return button Button to return from zoom-in, zoom-out and navigation screen to the original screen. Print/Save/Thumbnail button Button to print or save the searched image. Search button Button to search images including Play or Stop

Configuring Search Screen 4.5 Zoom-in/zoom-out and image adjustment of search screen Select the zoom-in/zoom-out button and click the mouse on the correct screen to drag right for zoom-in and drag left for zoom-out. <Zoom-in> <Zoom-out> Select the screen navigation button and drag the mouse to the correct direction to move the screen. <Left and upside navigation> <Right and downside navigation> Brightness : Adjust the brightness of the searched screen. Contrast : Adjust the contrast of the searched screen. Hue : Adjust the hue of the searched screen. Saturation : Adjust the saturation of the searched screen.

4. Configuring Search Screen 4.6 Saving video clip backup Click Video Clip Backup button to display the panel as below. Select the date and the channel to display the data status saved with different colors in the box. Drag the selected time zone with a mouse and press AVI Export button. Display by minutes Date selection button Display 5 minutes a column, move to Button to select the date. the next column for more than 30 minutes. Channel selection button Button to create video clips or select the number of the camera. Selection Stat/Stop (time zone) Display the amount of the data selected Total Space window Total available space to save the data Exported Space window The space of the exported data Free Space window Free space available Selection Space window Space selected by the user Gauge Graphic display of total space/exported space /selection space. Time zone Displays the time every 2 hours, 30 minutes by lines. Close button Close the current open video clip backup window. AVI Export button Press this button to convert the image into AVI after selecting the image on the time zone. Clear button Clear all files converted into AVI.

4. Configuring Search Screen 4.6 Saving video clip backup Writing CD-R (CD-Recordable) after saving in a hard disk Write AVI files in CD to create the readable files in general CD-ROMs using Easy CD Creator supplied by Adaptec Inc. Select CD-RW (650W) as a backup device in the backup menu of settings. Select C:VideoClipas a backup folder. Press Video Clip Backup button in the detailed search screen and select the data in the window to create AVI files in HDD by pressing AVI Export button. End DVR local program to run Easy CD Creator and copy files in C:VideoClipdirectory to CD. Set Selection Space less than 100 ~ 150M as the images can be extended 4 or 5 times in size when converted in a general AVI format for exporting AVI. 1. End DVR program (application program) when using Easy CD Creator. (CD-R/RW errors can be occurred if another application program is running at the same time)

4. Configuring Search Screen 4.6 Saving video clip backup Writing to CD-RW (CD-ReWritable) After writing AVI files to CD, create files only available in CD-RW or multi-read CD-ROM which is not readable in a general CD-ROM using Direct CD program supplied by Adaptec Inc. Select CD-RW(650M) as a backup device in the backup list of settings. Select CD-RW drive as a backup folder. Put CD-RW media formatted in Direct CD into CD-RW. Press Video Clip Backup button in the detailed search screen and select the data in the window to create AVI files by pressing AVI Export button. Format CD before writing the data to CD in Direct CD format. (CD-R formatting time : About 15 seconds, CD-RW formatting time: About 15 ~50 minutes) Space available for formatted CD-RW is about 530MB, and about 620MB for CD-R media. [Note] General CD-ROM drives can't read Direct CD format.

4. Configuring Search Screen 4.7 Printing and saving the search screen Print and Save button panel Preview button : Displays various layouts of the search screens in printing. <12> <24> <48> Print button : Prints the search screen. Printer should be installed in the system. Save button : Saves the search screen in the floppy disk/hard disk and the network. File name is created automatically according to the date and the time. Thumbnail button : List up the current main 30 search screens not to skip any screens. Double-click the thumbnail screen to display the main search screen and print or save the data in floppy disk. 5. Properties setting 5.1 Verifying password Press Properties button on the monitoring screen to display Properties window and verify user's password. Default value of password is "0". Changing password Setting menu tab You can select tabs related to property settings. Select About DVR and press New Password button to show password change screen. Enter the new password in New Password. Reenter the new password to verify.

5. Properties setting 5.3 Motion detection and image adjustment Motion detection setting Full Set the entire input images as motion detection. User Defined Users can define the area. Press Add Area button and drag the mouse on the selected images to display the area in a red line. Move the mouse to the center of X to drag and drop to the selected area with mark. (Click again on Add Area to display another line of the selected area) Grid Click the selected area you desired in 44 divided window. Click again the selected area to cancel.

Contrast : Adjust the contrast of the input image. Brightness : Adjust the brightness of the input image. Hue : Adjust the hue of the input image. Saturation : Adjust the saturation of the input image. Default : Return all the value to the default. Up : Move up the image placed too low. Down : Move down the image placed too high. Left : Move the image placed on the right side too much to the left. Right : Move the image placed on the left side too much to the right. Default : Return all the value to the default.

5. Properties setting 5.5 External monitor setting Screen Switch Rotation Time button Set the time of the automatic switch of each divided screens. External monitor setting button Click each channel button to shut down the outgoing signals to the external monitor. The output order changes according to the order of pressing the buttons. Reset button Set the all camera settings off. Default button Return all camera settings to the default. External monitor switch button Button to set the output images to the one channel or to the multiple channels with switch rotation for a certain time.

5. Properties setting 5.6 How to set recording and schedule Screen setting All Cameras button Set the same properties in all cameras at one time. Duplex Mode Enable button Button to enable recording and searching at the same time <See 2-1 screen and button> Frame Rate & Total Frame Rate Set the separate frame rate according to the level of importance for each cameras to show the total frame rate that is created automatically. Rate limit is 1/16 per channel. Image Quality Set the separate image quality according to its level of importance. High level makes the image quality better but can influence the total number of frames. Motion Detection Recording Duration Button to set the duration of recording during motion detection. Sensor Detection Recording Duration Button to set the duration of recording during sensor detection. Recording in Full/Motion Detection/Sensor/Erase Boxes to check the type of recording and scheduling properly for the use of HDD. Select and drag Erase button to erase the setting for each days. All Days/Reset Click All Days button to set the same type of recording for all days. Click Reset button to erase all settings.

Properties setting 5.6 How to set recording and schedule Full recording for all days 1 3 4 2 To record all cameras for 24 hours a day, Check All Cameras button -> Full button -> All Days button and drag down from 00:00 on the schedule table to set the entire table green for full recording. Recording with schedule (Motion detection, sensor) 1 3 2 To set the separate schedule for each cameras: Select and check camera button and recording type, and then drag down the selected time zone to set the table in user-defined color for recording by schedule. Erasing schedule Check Erase and drag the selected day or time zone. Click Reset button to erase the entire schedule table.

5. Properties setting 5.7 Backup setting To backup DAT... 1. Install HP C1537A or C1554A, models for DDS-3 supported by provider. 2. Install and run Datman program on Windows. (Supplied as option) 3. Run local program to start backup. Backup Device Button to check the use and the type of backup device Auto Backup Operates recording and DAT backup at the same time and save the backup time. Schedule Backup Operates backup mainly at user-defined time without back-up while recording. Recording stop after warning message Stops recording with warning message when HDD space is full, and ask users to continue backup or not. Rewriting without Warning message Does not display warning message when HDD space is full, and automatically deletes the old data to keep recording.

Network setting screen Describe DVR name and comments on area etc. Set DVR name available for network search from the remote programs. Network Enable Set the network enable to use remote programs. Double-click TCP/IP and select TCP/IP Properties on network setting panel screen. 3. Enter IP Address given by network administrator on TCP/IP Properties.

This may give you confused as system error. When the channel has no video signal, Alert sound ON, and this has been alone only XP version.

Give a supplementary explanation Setting all channel recording and #8 sensor switch ON, DVR records all channel only set time when sensor detects motion. # 8 sensor switch ON, DVR records all channel even if not set recording mode in set time when motion detected. See fig #1 setting sensor #8. Assuming #1 channel is very important, as an example, you may keep recording always at #1 channel if you don t set #1 channel OFF with sensor #8 set mode.

6. MX-Station DVR Initialization This menu resets the functions that may able to cause the serious influence on a MX-STATION DVR system like video source, archive mode and archive space in HDD. This configuration should be conducted by a qualified technical person when the enlargement and replacement of HDD (Hard Disk Drive) are indispensably needed. Video Source Select the video signal which is used for cameras in NTSC or PAL. Both signal scan can not be used at the same time. DVR Type When DVR type is set, channel Number can be changed with Keeping on recording Video Archive Space Set up the video archive space in the HDD. The default is set as 1GB. [Caution! for recorded Data] - [new data folder and file generation] checked. Keeping on Recorded data. - Changing hard disk [new data folder and file generation] are automatically checked.. - [Environment set file initiation] is initialed at product purchased, but keeping on recorded data.

7. Using Remote Programs 7.1 Connecting networks Setting on Windows network Before running the remote program, check the list as belows. 1. Network settings and network connection on local DVR Windows. 2. Connection establishment 3. Network settings on PC to run the remote program. 4. MJPEG codec installation on PC to run the remote program. 5. Display settings on PC to run the remote program. <Resolution : 1024*768, Colors : 32bit True Color> 6. DirectX 7.0 or later version on PC to run the remote program. Running the remote program 1. After installing the remote program, click Start -> Programs -> MX-STATION Client -> DVR Remote to display start screen of the remote program as shown on the left. Automatic POP-UP 2. Connection setting - After installing, displayed as figure on set window. - Cleck Connected on upper right on display, if you want to set again while keeping on recording. - Shown as figure when [Displayed when starting MX-Client] checked, and not be shown when this is not checked. - When the motion detected, full screen displayed as long as time set. - This is independent operated as a client from server and/or server set.

7. Using Remote Programs 7.1 Connecting networks 3. Press Connect button on the main button panel to display control panel for network connection. 4. Press Search button to display session search window to locate local DVR connected to the network.
