AN UPDATE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Dear Students & Parents, I want to take a moment to bring everyone up to speed regarding the plans for CMS to move to 85 Great Arrow. CMS placed a bid on the site last month, & we were very surprised when, a few weeks later, the sellers replied that they were not going to put the building on the market after all this was very disappointing news for the many people who worked several years to try & find a site that could encourage art education partnerships between multiple non-profit organizations. This situation, however, allowed CMS Board to put all other options back on the table including staying at our current location. After looking at all the options, the Board voted unanimously to stay at 415 Elmwood & remodel our existing building. It is important to note that staying at 415 Elmwood is NOT merely a Plan B- while staying here will not afford the space for other organizations to be on-site, our footprint here is more than enough to meet all of CMS s programming needs, plus allow for a spacious performance venue. There were always plusses and minus to the collaborative plan, & while we were very excited, we firmly believe that staying and renovating is the best course of action for many reasons. We have informed Tapestry and Neglia of our plans & ended on good terms. As we move forward with the plans for the renovation, I am hoping to form a student/parent committee to solicit your ideas on how CMS can best meet your needs. I welcome anyone who is interested to contact me at jenkoch@cms-buffalo.org. I welcome the input of ALL students of ANY age- sometimes the youngest among us can see things with clearer eyes than the rest of us! I truly hope to make this process as inclusive as possible thank you in advance for your input! Warm Regards, Jennifer M.
