Let s understand the steps involved. Step 1 : Multiply the digits in the unit place, that is 2 1=2. This will be the unit digit of the answer as well. The complete steps involved in the calculation can be illustrated in the following figure. Step 2 : Now, we cross-multiply the numbers 3 1=2 and 2 2=4 and add them. Write 7 in the 10 s place of the answer. Step 3 : You just multiply the digits in the 10 s place, that is 3 2=6. Now consider the multiplication 47 32. Notice the carry-forward in each step. It is important to note that only 1 digit should be retained in each steps. The rest is carried forward. The complete steps involved in the calculation is illustrated in the figure: 1 is carried forward to step 2 so that the number at step 2 will be 29+1 = 30. Now 0 will be retained in step 2 and 3 will be carried forward to step 3 so that the number at step 3 will be 12 + 3 = 15. Therefore the final answer = 1504 Now practice this method on 30 different situations. Note: 1.Show the working for product of all pairs of numbers.2.the working should be shown in A4 size ruled sheets.3. The question may be asked during FAs (viz. Quiz)
