QUOTATIONS The Library offers several books on quotations. A quotation is something that is quoted, esp. a passage referred to, repeated or cited as an instance or as proof or evidence. Most quotation books are located in REF. PN 6080 - PN 6288. OPAC The quickest way to locate books on your subject is to search the "Online Public Access Catalog" (OPAC) at Gates Memorial Library Online Catalog using Title and Subject Keyword. The following list of subject headings is taken from the Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH), the four volume red covered books located on the Reference counter. Aphorisms and Apothegms Epigrams Quotations Quotations, English Quotations, EnglishBHandbooks Quotations, Dictionaries REFERENCES In most of the books on quotations, you can locate the quotation by a key word or subject in alphabetical order. Some sources only give a subject index to find the quote. Other sources will provide an author index, proper name index, and/or source index. Once you have located the quotation in the source book, some sources will only give you the person's name quoted and others will give the book or work you can find that quote in.
