Wood Middle School Electives for the 2014-2015 School Year Rising 7 th and 8 th graders will fill out next year s course registration sheets through their math classes starting today. Registration will continue through January 31 st.
Please use the note sheet provided by your teacher to circle electives you want to take and write any questions you might have.
WORLD LANGUAGES Spanish and French Next year, as an elective, seventh and eighth graders can sign up for a World Language class. We offer levels 1, 2 and 3 of Spanish and French and we also offer Spanish for Native Speakers 1 (SSS 1). For SSS 1, you will be given a placement test in seventh grade to determine if you can take the class as an eighth grader. You ll need these credits for high school, so why not take them now? All of the World Language teachers look forward to seeing you next year. Nos vemos!! À bientôt! Introduction To Engineering Design (PLTW) 8 th Grade (CADD/ARE Preferred) Puzzle Cube Project This is the capstone course to the Engineering Pathway here at Wood MS. Introduction to Engineering Design TM (IED) is a high school level course that is appropriate for students who are interested in design and engineering and are strong in mathematics (preferably taking Honors Geometry). The major focus of the IED course is to expose students to design process, research and analysis, teamwork, communication methods, global and human impacts, engineering standards, and technical documentation. World Music This music class is an introduction to general music where students will encounter the following: Students will learn about music theory which includes learning how to read music through rhythm and melody. abilities of middle school students. In addition to beginning music theory, students will be introduced to the World Music Drumming curriculum. Students will explore the varied styles of popular music, history, and culture. Students are able to perform in public, live performances.

Remember, what electives you choose on your registration form now will dictate which elective classes are offered next school year so, make your choices carefully.
