3 DESCRIPTION OF COLLECTION Accession#: SC Location: M2A 4,1 1 linear feet Provenance The photographs originate as the collection of Achille Clivio and were inscribed and given to him by the various artists. At his death they passed into the hands of a friend of the family, U go Ottolenghi, who in turn passed them down to his son, Athos. Athos and Anna Ottolenghi donated the collection to Sibley Music Library in Scope and Content The collection constitutes an excellent group of photographs of both major and minor opera singers and conductors from the tum-of-the century. The ephemera also include interesting memorabilia relating to opera of the time. Restrictions none Associations Watanabe Special Collections maintains an Iconography collection that includes many similar photographs, some inscribed to various individuals, of major and minor performers of the same time period. 4 DESCRIPTION OF SERIES Series 1: Photographs 69 photographs of eminent opera singer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, most inscribed. The photographs are arranged in alphabetical order, which originates with the previous owner.
