GOD PROVIDES all rights belong to Tanis Harms. refer to GOD PROVIDES written by Tanis Harms TOPIC: God provides many things SCRIPTURE: 1 Sam.1:1-20:42, 1 Kings 17:1-18:46,. 2 Kings 5:1-14, Nehemiah, Esther 4:1-9:32,. Daniel, Jonah 1:1-3:10, Mark 1:1-4, Gal.3:5 Style: drama/conversation: a child asks to be told. the best story in the Bible Cast: CHILDREN 1 3 (CHILD 1 is the youngest) Set & Props: sofa or chairs, Bible story book. (with the script inside so it seems like. they looking for the right story to tell) SCRIPT: (CHILDREN 1 3 sit down.) C 2 (to C 3) I can t believe we got stuck babysitting. C 3 I ve never had to babysit before. What do we do? C 1 You can tell me a story. C 2 Which story should we tell you? C 1 Tell me the best story in the Bible. C 3 (looks through story book) Ahhh, which one. is that? C 2 Oh, here, how about the story of Kind David?. David loved, obeyed and followed God.. Because of that, God provided David with strength. and success in battle. God also provided. protection from Saul, and provided David with. a best friend, Jonathan, who looked out for him. C 1 No, that s not the one.
C 3 Well, what about the story of the prophet Elijah. who followed and trusted in God.. During a great drought, God provided food and. health to him and the widow and her son.. God also provided fire and rain afterwards. C 1 Ahhh, no, that s not the one. 2 C 2 Oh, what about the story about Naaman the leper,. who had once been a great warrior and captain. of an army. When he went to find healing,. he was at first very angry at God.. But when Naaman humbled himself,. and had faith to trust in God s directions. to wash himself clean, God provided healing. C 1 Ummmm, no, that s not the one. C 3 Okay, what about the prophet Nehemiah,. who confessed and cried out to God.. God then helped Israel get their land back. and rebuild their city. God also helped. provide them with building materials. and protection from their enemies. C 1 No, that s not the one. C 2 Ahhhh, okay, how about the story of Queen Esther,. who fasted and prayed to God. Then God gave her. wisdom and courage to approach the king,. which saved the people of Israel. C 1 Nope, that s not the one. C 3 The story of Daniel is really awesome.. Daniel confessed the sins of the nation of Israel,. and obeyed and followed God. God provided him
. with health, wisdom and insight, as well, He. protected Daniel from the lions in the lion den. C 1 Mmmmm, no, that s not the one. C 2 Okay, so what about Jonah, who after disobeying. God, was swallowed by a fish and was in the belly. of the fish for 3 days until he confessed. and prayed thankfully, then obeyed God.. God then helped him talk to the people of Nineveh,. so that the people were saved. when they confessed their sins. and obeyed and followed God. C 1 Noooo, that s not the one either. C 3 So give us a hint. 3 C 1 John the Baptist told everyone about it. C 2 John the Baptist was a messenger of God. C 3 Yeah, John the Baptist went around warning people. of judgment and death unless they would repent. and confess their sins. C 2 And John the Baptist told the people about Jesus. C 1 That s the one. C 3 The good news story is about Jesus Christ.. Because God loved us so much, God sent His. only Son, Jesus, to die for all our sins,. so that we could repent and be saved. C 2 Huh! Notice that in all the stories we suggested. ALL those people, when they prayed to God,
. asked for forgiveness, and decided to obey God,. and God then saved and helped them.. God provides all of us with Jesus Christ s. sacrifice and resurrection, so we could repent. and be saved, and go to heaven, to be. with Him forever. C 3 Cool. C 1 See, that is the best story in the Bible. C 2 It is... It s the best story anywhere.

DREAM COME TRUE. all rights belong to Tanis Harms. refer to DREAM COME TRUE - written by Tanis Harms TOPIC: our dreams, God s purposes SCRIPTURE: Colossians 3: Style: comedy/spoof on Cinderella: each woman's. weaknesses are exposed and shown how. they can improve Cast: Cinderella frumpy, insecure. Glam-sis - glamorous, snobby. Arty-sis - emo, moody. Step-mom - business woman, rude. Godmother - frilly, nosey Polly Anna Set & Props: table, chairs, coffee pot dresses, mug,. lunch bag & things to go in it, briefcase,. painting kit, magic wand, fairy dust SCRIPT: (CINDI rushes to table and stuffs food into a lunch bag.) MOM (off stage) Cinderella! CINDI I m in the kitchen. (CINDI pours a cup of coffee. MOM rushes in from stage right and stops to drink it.) MOM I m running late! Where s my lunch! (CINDI packs the lunch and puts it into briefcase. MOM grabs briefcase rudely and yells while leaving stage left.) MOM I expect dinner to be ready when I get home. at seven. CINDI (mumbling) Yes, step-mom. (GLAM-sis enters from SR carrying an armload of
dresses. She talks as enters and throws all the clothes at CINDI.) GLAM Cinderella! I need these brought to the. dry cleaner s today. There s a stack of laundry. in my room to be washed and ironed.. And when you make supper, PLEASE remember. to supplement the meat with tofu.. You know how I like it. I m off to shop now. CINDI While you re shopping, could you possibly 2. pick up some eggs? GLAM Seriously? Those shopping bags clash with. my ensemb. (GLAM-SIS struts out SL. CINDI neatly lays dresses across a chair. ARTY-SIS shuffles in SR rubbing eyes and yawning.) CINDI Did you want any breakfast? ARTY Does it look like I really want to eat?. I m so tired of eating. Every day is the same:. you get up - you eat, you sleep- you eat. you sleep again - you eat. You d think there was. more to life than that. CINDI You could throw in a shower from time to time. ARTY Are you trying to make me feel better?. Well you can't. It s all so depressing.... Cinderella, where s my painting kit,. I feel like expressing myself. (CINDI pulls out the painting kit and hands it to ARTY-SIS who shuffles back out SR.)
ARTY Oh, and if my boyfriend drops by, tell him. I don t want to see him. But then come tell me,. because maybe I will want to by then. (CINDI collapses into the other chair and starts to cry.) CINDI Waaahhh. I feel so unfulfilled! Waaaahhh. (GOD-MOTHER floats in on tip toes from SL. When standing by the table, she throws fairy dust into the air to emulate a pathetic smoke poof and waves her magic wand.) G.M. Ta-dah! I m your fairy God-Mother. You called? CINDI What? Grandma, what are you doing? G.M. Did you want to go to the ball?. Did you need a pretty new dress? CINDI Ah, no, not really. G.M. You could really use one, you know. 3 CINDI I really don t need a pretty new dress. G.M. Please? It s all I ve ever wanted to do. CINDI Oh, all right. G.M. (waving her wand) Dippity-dressaty-do! (GOD-MOTHER freezes and waits. Nothing happens.) G.M. (sadly) It didn t work. CINDI I actually thought you were going to sew me one.
G.M. Hmm, THAT IS an idea. (STEP-MOM and GLAM-SIS enter SL, ARTY-SIS enters SR.) MOM What is going on here?! CINDI Grandmom came to help. G.M. Cinderella said she felt unfulfilled. MOM (to CINDI) YOU feel unfulfilled? CINDI Yes! I work and work and do so much. for all of you, and I m not appreciated at all. MOM Well, I feel unfulfilled. Whatever I do,. I can never get the respect I want. GLAM So? Imagine how I feel. No matter how good. I look, I feel so unattractive. ARTY You re all talking about FEELINGS here?. HelLOoo! (points to herself). And what do you mean you feel unattractive?. See? You LOOK great, but you FEEL unattractive.. Get it? (GOD-MOTHER snaps her fingers in a light bulb moment.) G.M. Beauty comes from within. You need to. work on BEING beautiful. I did it!. I finally helped somebody. All I ever wanted. was just to help. CINDI But Grandmom, you tend to be a busybody. 4. You have to wait for someone to ask for help.. Or at the very least, ask HOW you can help.. Usually all we need is for someone to listen.
. You don t have to solve every problem.. Only God can help Glam-sis know how to be. beautiful. G.M. I guess God will have to help me be. a better listener. ARTY Oh, you re all making me so sick with this stuff.. It s totally depressing. Nobody ever gets. close enough to me to want to listen. G.M Now this I know something about. God can give. you joy, through no matter what. But you have. to seek it. MOM (to ARTY) Yes dear, and hopefully you seek. some of that joy. It s hard to WANT to get close. to someone who is such a moody-gloomy-gus.. No wonder your boyfriend and you never. can make it work. CINDI (to MOM) You know, you don t have to be so rude.. That s why people don t respect you.. You can t demand it you have to earn it.. You have to respect others before THEY. will respect you. GLAM (to CINDI) And you re always little-miss-. all-together-perfect. CINDI You all take advantage of me with everything. ARTY Well, you do LET us. GLAM Yeah, you do! You ask to do things,. or just go ahead and do them anyway. because you want to be in total control
. of how everything is run. Everything has. to be done just so, it has to be done your way,. or it just isn t good enough. MOM Exactly, you need to grow a backbone,. and at the same time don t have such. high expectations. It may LOOK it,. but you re NOT a victim here, you know. CINDI Huh! Didn t see that coming. I guess 5. you re right. I guess I need to give God. the control. (CINDI looks down, like she s going to cry.) G.M. But we all love you. GLAM We do. MOM Yes we do. GLAM And I love you too, Mom. And you sis. (ARTY-SIS tries to walk away but everyone pulls her back into the group hug.) CINDI And I love all of YOU! (G.M. throws some fairy dust into the air and gets the entire group to shuffle out SR.) ARTY (coughing) Grandmom, what s with the. sparkly stuff? CINDI Do you know how hard it is to clean that stuff up anyway? MOM Let it go-let it go.
Make Over Story all rights belong to Tanis Harms. refer to MAKE-OVER STORY - written by Tanis Harms TOPIC: Christian attributes, internal beauty SCRIPTURE: 2 Cor.5:17, Eph.4:17-32 Style: satire/spoof on What Not to Wear:. hosts tell a fashion victim what would. make her more beautiful on the inside Cast: HOSTS 1 (Stancy) & HOST 2, WOMAN Set & Props: purses, accessory jewelry, hats,. scarves, trash can SCRIPT: (WOMAN enters, looking around like she's windowshopping. She is carrying many purses and wearing a lot of jewelry, hats and scarves. HOSTS 1 and 2 jump onto stage. WOMAN is first shocked, then embarrassed.) HOST 1 Stop. WE are the fashion-disaster police,. and you are under arrest for breaking the laws. on fashion. HOST 2 We have a report here from your friends. who say that you are a complete fashion disaster.. And boy are they right! HOST 1 Step right over here so we can get. a better look at you. HOST 2 First thing that we notice is all of this. which is just weighing you down. WOMAN That s what I want. It shows everyone. that I m successful. HOST 1 It looks more like over-kill to me.. Which then - looks like insecurity.
. What does success mean to you, anyway? WOMAN (shrugging) Having many things. HOST 2 Did you steal any of these things? (WOMAN hangs her head in shame.) HOST 1 Well let s start here. These really imply 2. greed and selfishness. (HOST 1 takes all purses and tosses them into trash can. HOST 2 takes off all hats to throw them to the trash can.) HOST 2 And what do we have going on up here?. This pride just makes your head look really big,. which distracts from any true beauty you have.. Snobbishness is not an attractive look at all. (WOMAN tries to cover her hair with her hands. HOST 1 takes off green scarves to add to the trash can.) HOST 1 Especially with this green shade of envy. and jealousy. This does nothing for you. HOST 2 And this just screams lies-all-lies! (HOST 2 takes off all the jewelry and throws them away.) HOST 1 So can you see how you d look and feel better. if you were truly rid of these things? WOMAN Yeah, a little, I guess. It would be like if. a load had been lifted off of me.
HOST 2 What we would want to see, is a person. who was willing to work for what you needed. and then share with those less fortunate.. The only accessory you would really need. to be wearing is contentment. HOST 1 Now, using what we just taught you,. we want you to go out and find something else. that would work for you? (WOMAN goes back to rummage through the trash.) HOST 2 Oh no, wh-what is she doing? Stancy!. We need to go to her aid right now. (HOST 1 and 2 take the items out of the WOMAN'S hand and throw them back into the trash can.) HOST 1 Put - the - envy - down.. Have we taught you nothing?. HOST 2 Stancy, why don't we show her other. alternatives which would complement her,. and make her look great. 3 HOST 1 By all means! So one classic that works. for everybody - is trying on some kindness. and graciousness. WOMAN (shaking HOST 1 s hand) Thank you. HOST 1 Now, as we get closer, and get to know you better,. we notice that there still other details. which would need to be addressed. The finer. details, such as - what do we see going on-. right around here... (motions to WOMAN'S eyes). What about these dark rings under your eyes?
. What have you been doing to yourself? WOMAN Ah, it s probably from all the partying. and corruption. Can t a girl have fun? HOST 1 THIS kind of fun does not look good on you.. Because even with all the so-called fun,. you ve sure got a LOT of frown lines. HOST 2 Obviously, you need to be wearing joy. (WOMAN turns her frown into a huge, forced smile.) HOST 1 Noooo, fake - too fake. We are talking about. inner joy, no matter what. HOST 2 This can only be achieved by the application. of faith and love. WOMAN Well, you just have no idea what I ve had. to put up with. I m married to such a loseridiot.. And all the people I work with - all morons. HOST 2 OOOO-kay! That is not an attractive look. at all. What makes you beautiful are words. that build others up. WOMAN Ohhh, like, I should support and encourage. my husband? And see the potential in others. and praise them when they try?. 4 HOST 1 Yes-yes. That would look far better.. It would also FEEL better to work on these things. WOMAN (clenching fists) I could, but do you know. how much effort that would take?
HOST 2 I can see that it would be a lot easier. if you weren t so angry. Just take a look. at those clenched fists in our 3-way mirror.. That won't match with anything!. In fact, it's down-right scary! WOMAN Maybe I want to be scary. HOST 1 Oooo, so much clashing anger, which is. what gives you these ill-shaped eyebrows.. You need to forgive-forgive-forgive.. I m guessing you need to forgive a whole bunch. of people, and God, as well as yourself.. That is the key to any makeup. HOST 2 What also is standing out, is all these. worry lines on your forehead. I would. strongly recommend an injection of hope. and the renewing spirit of your mind.. You really should not worry about anything.. That will destroy any complexion. (WOMAN S shoulders sag. HOST 1 turns WOMAN sideways and points out her posture.) HOST 1 May we just add, you can improve any posture. by being confident in the Lord. WOMAN I don t think I can pull this look off at all.. There's so much to think about and do. HOST 2 No, you are so absolutely right. At least,. not on your own you can t. Only God can give you. a complete makeover. All you have to do is. give HIM your heart. And He will make you. a brand new BEAUTIFUL person, from the inside out.
HOST 1 (to congregation) Are you - ready to submit. yourself to the ultimate Makeover Artist?
