3 Page 3 Washington, DC April 8 My favorite memory would have to be the cruise we went on when we went to Washington D.C., from April It was a lot of fun because everyone just laughed, sang and danced all night. The music was great, and the DJ was cool, too! Everyone got along, and we made a lot of memories on that trip. I will never forget it! :) -Molly Gerity

5 Page 5 Alice in Wonderland...Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." -Lewis Carroll The Drama Club has done it again! Their performances of Alice in Wonderland on May 5th and 6th were, well, wonderful! The sets, the stage crew, the music, the acting, and the expert direction by Miss Perkins, Mrs. Gerity and Mrs. Kwiatkowski all came together perfectly in a fast paced retelling of the classic Lewis Carroll books. Below are some photographs of the play, and here is a small sample of the dialogue: Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. So true. Great job, Drama Club!

6 Page 6 Eighth Grade Memories. My favorite memory out of all the years I have been at St. Charles would have to be the day I performed in the talent show this year. I had already heard the song ( Who You Are by Jessie J) many times, but I realized that there was something about that song that I hadn t noticed before. It was the lyrics. The lyrics really motivated me to feel better about what I do and how I act. Fr. Ryan had actually suggested I dance to that song, and I couldn t have been more thankful for that. That was a huge confidence booster for me, and I was able to express myself and the words of the song by doing what I love, by dancing. I actually don t like that song very much anymore, but there will be times where I don t skip the song when it comes on. So, I would definitely have to say that that was my favorite memory. -Audrey Lang My favorite memory from St. Charles was when we went to Washington D.C. We saw so many cool things like the Washington Monument, the Capitol building, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the museums. The best part, in my opinion, was the bus ride there and back. The whole time it was just a big hang -out with all of our friends on the bus. All we did was talk, play games and just have fun. Overall it was an amazing trip and I would love to do it again!. -Alec Buehner More Memories. My favorite memory from St. Charles was being a part of the youth ministry. This was because I had fun doing the activities. The Mardi Gras event was the most fun to me.joseph Hamlin My favorite memory at St. Charles was having Mrs. Hurguy as a teacher. She was my favorite teacher at St. Charles; she was very energetic and funny. She had a great sense of humor and always made the class laugh! She was a great teacher too. She had good lesson plans and made new ways for us to learn things. She made us memorize songs that we would sing at various points throughout the day. We had songs for Simple Solutions, when we would open our desk, and even for prayers! She really made us get involved in our learning, and made it fun so we would enjoy it more. Overall, she was just a great teacher, and really prepared me for my upcoming school years. I will never forget Mrs. Hurguy! - Jacob Koces

My favorite memory of Saint Charles is when Jordyn glued herself to her chair in the first grade... -Dominic Lugo, Allison Pierce, Carly Kwiatkowski...When Allie face-planted at one of the school dances....when Leah fell down the stairs on our way to music. -Jordyn Sted My favorite memory is when we went to Spring Mist Farms in second grade. We were so excited to see the horses and other farm animals! -Amanda Leigh The time I fell down the stairs... And the beginning of the friendship between Allie, Jordyn, and me... -Leah Nagy My favorite memory at Saint Charles was when we went to Mapleside Farms in kindergarten. I had never been there before that and I was so anxious to go for the first time. I also wanted to see all of the farmland and all the land the owners had. I really liked the part when we went apple picking in the back of the farm, and we rode to the apple trees on a tractor. -Nicholas Marchese Junior High Update The junior high students are excited as this year comes to a close! Here is what students have been doing this spring. In eighth grade ELA, students read To Kill a Mockingbird. They read primary source documents about the historical time period of the novel, and examined social issues that surround the conflict. In social studies, students learned about US government and its structure. In the eighth grade A class for math, students learned about adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing numbers with exponents, and writing numbers using scientific notation. In the B class, they learned about adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing polynomials. Finally, in science, students learned about volcanos, earthquakes and locating the epicenter of an earthquake. The seventh graders read a memoir called Mississippi Solo and analyzed the story. In social studies, the seventh grade researched China s dynasties and the history of Islam. In math, the seventh grade learned about geometry, specifically the area and circumference of a circle. Finally, in science, seventh grade heard about sound waves and the electromagnetic spectrum. Good luck to the graduating eighth grade and the soon to be eighth graders! -Jeffrey Ungvarsky

8 Page 8 My best Saint Charles memory is probably when I met my friends Aiden, Nick, Zach, and Joe. I have known most of my friends since 2nd grade and they have been with me ever since. They have helped me through my hardships, times of need, and times of confusion. Britton Helman My favorite memory from Saint Charles is the Wildcat Hoopla Day. Participating and leading it was a very fun experience. Winning the tug of war and other activities made it a memory that I will never forget.-noah Baker...When we had to give our Ohioan presentation in the fourth grade and half way through I burst out laughing because I was so nervous and I had to stop.- Kate Tenerowicz Memories. One of my favorite memories at Saint Charles was the Drama Club Performance of Alice inwonderland. I loved being the white rabbit in the play. This part has some great scenes like the trial scene, which was the best part of Act 1. I had to say a bunch of letters and poems and I probably had the only good mic at the time. In Act II, White Rabbit from Jefferson Airplane played and the whole cast danced around stage. There was a line that said...and if you go, chasing rabbits At that part I was supposed to run across stage. I did but because of my big and slippery bunny slippers, I fell right on stage! I made it work and made it seem like I meant to fall but it hurt. I laughed so much because the next line was...and you know you re going to fall. I also had a great part where I would throw cards with words of a poem on them all over stage. When I performed in front of the school, my kindergarten buddy was right in front of me. She was laughing so hard when I threw the cards away! The play was just really fun and I loved it. 9 Page 9 My favorite moment at Saint Charles was when Mr.Malec and I used our hands to have a ping pong match in the science lab. Everyone gathered around and watched instead of doing their marble project!- -Maor Bruening One of my favorite memories from St. Charles was going to math tutoring with Miss Tabor. -Abigale Walczak Memories of our lives, of our works and our deeds will continue in others. -Rosa Parks, Whenever I think of the past, it brings back so many memories. -Steven Wright, comedian More Memories... My favorite memory was in first grade and my class was starting Iowa tests. As you know, to take Iowa tests,, you need a number 2 pencil. Well, on the first day of Iowa s I came to school and, lucky little ignorant me, completely forgot about Iowa s. The first 10 minutes of my school day was spent scrambling around the class, asking for an extra number 2 pencil, and, either there was a conspiracy against me, or none of my classmates had an extra number two pencil. I suspect the former. Anyways, testing time came around and, surprise, surprise, I didn t have a pencil, except for this pink one that I had gotten from a birthday party a few days earlier. Resigning to my inevitable fate, I took my pink pencil and started testing with it. About 20 minutes later, Mrs. Zickes came to my desk and saw me using the pencil. My face flushed with dread as she held out her hand for it, her face grave. I handed it to her, and started making excuses, It s the only pencil I have and I didn t know what to do because I couldn t find another one and I completely forgot about Iowa s But to my surprise she handed it back to me and continued to browse around the room. I stared at the piece of painted wood in my hand. It was then that I noticed a very obvious number 2 at the top of the pencil that my frantic mind had somehow missed at the beginning of class. I almost fell out of my chair from relief and from that day on that pencil was my lucky pencil. I still have it today. -Christina Ibos Memories... My favorite memories at Saint Charles were in third grade. Every time we opened our desks we would sing a song. There was a different song for every subject. Also, Mrs. Hurguy would always have to get us quiet after Mass. Sorry, Mrs. Hurguy. Finally, we had a butterfly cage in our classroom for a project and one of the butterflies escaped the cage and it was flying around and we finally got it back in the cage.
