3 SYNOPSIS Felicitas and Natascha share an ill-fated mutual past for which Natascha carves out her existence in an asylum and Felicitas tries to deal with her bad memories with a more or less regular life that is turned upside down when she meets an unknown young Thai woman on her vacation in Bangkok and subsequently gets raided and drawn into a fight, leaving her the only survivor. Being back in Berlin Feli has to question her sanity as the world around her seems to have changed and when she finds a hidden message from the Thai girl on her phone that apparently knew Feli from the very beginning. Her only chance of finding out the truth is Natascha - but what lies behind and ahead of both friends is much bigger than they ever thought.

7 THE DIRECTOR Steffen Hacker, born 1979, has directed over hundred commercials as part of the German directing duo Alex & Steffen. Originally coming from postproduction (he studied visual effects at the renowned Filmakademie Baden- Württemberg) he teamed up to direct post-heavy commercials with Alexander Kiesl after their short Racing Beats won the Young Director s Award in Cannes in Having had an own feature film as the ultimate goal for years, he started to develop this script in 2013 and began shooting in Bangkok the same year. After returning from Thailand, Steffen stopped shooting for almost a year, having realized that the story was not strong enough. As the whole project was and is self-financed there was no real time pressure - just this one chance to do it right. INGENIUM underwent two complete script changes, turning the story into the mystery thriller it is today. The rest of the film was shot in the following three years at easter and took almost two years in postproduction - on long nights and weekends. As part of the action and to rescue old footage that was shot according to earlier script versions, Steffen and his team from Unexpected Postproduction created 600+ visual effect shots for INGENIUM that glued the film together and made the story possible after all.» It s your film. Just do what you would like to watch yourself..! a good friend and producer told me when I was asking for advice on what audiences might want to see. I always liked dark films. When they feel real. When you can see the snow falling, the coldness in everyone s movement, the dirt under the fingernails and the blood in the faces. And fantastical elements, the more unexpected, the better. I also like regular mainstream movies a lot, but happily embrace every popcorn movie that is less formulaic and has a certain Indie spirit at heart. That s why we did not really care about a three-act-structure when plotting, we improvised big amounts of dialogue and action on the spot as we went, we filmed with minimal crew and a small fingerprint to be able to get big and diverse locations, not to bore the audience a single minute of our film s runtime, visually and emotionally. We are convinved we just scratched the surface of telling the story from the world of INGENIUMcontinuing this plot would make for a fantastic mini-series, there is so much more we could imagine. ;-) Maybe we can one day - for now we just want to entertain audiences all over the world and hope to give them a bit of brain food and adrenaline. «

8 ESTHER MAAß Esther Maaß loves to portray strong women and -- genre movies! She recently starred in 2018 s Mystery series The other side from TLC Germany and is a household name for Genre-lovers: She landed her first feature film leading role in 2009 s slasher BREAK which has a massive fanbase still today - with more than 33 million international views on youtbe. Shooting for INGENIUM took several years for Esther as she appears in almost every scene of the film - and sometimes even more than once...! ;-) JUDITH HOERSCH Judith Hoersch is an actress, writer and singer. She has numerous German TV appearances since 2001 and her last international roles include Cure for Wellness, Snowflake and Das letzte Mahl.

9 ADRIAN TOPOL Adrian Topol s vita includes numerous TV appearances since He won the Deutscher Fernsehpreis for best newcomer in Internationally he has been seen in the hit series Homeland. Besides acting he used to be a combat fighter, having won six German titles in several disciplines. PRODUCER ERIC SONNENBURG Eric is about to graduate as producer from Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, but has numerous big titles and festival awards under his belt already. Since two years he can be seen on the international festival circuit as co-producer of the Indie-Hit Snowflake frequently and has brought his expertise for proper big budget producing as well as for guerilla filmmaking to the table while INGENIUM was filmed.
