I was nominated by the SAT and selected by the British Council for my work in pushing the boundaries of music creation and live performances using emerging technologies, my role in bridging communities of various disciplines (music, video, dance, film, painting, science, culinary) and cross-pollinating their public exposure through events and projects, as well as for my teaching contributions in music creation, live performance and djing. 1 / 12

2 SAT (LA SOCIÉTÉ DES ARTS TECHNOLOGIQUES) : SAT (SOCIETY FOR ARTS AND TECHNOLOGY) Job: Resident Artist, Music Director, Show Producer, Teacher, Technician, School Administrator The SAT is one of the most unique digital art centres in Canada containing a full dome 360ºx230º cinema/event space, two additional regular event spaces, laboratories, a restaurant, and a school. Over the years, I have had many roles at the SAT and have been involved in some key projects that have shaped the way the art center has evolved over the years. I share some of my experience below : SAT CAMPUS Job: Teacher and School Administrator Info: The SAT school began with my DJ course and since then I have also added Music/Audio Production and Ableton Live courses. My classes range from 6-12 people, 9 to 24 hours duration, and are given three semesters per year. During one year, I was also the School Administrator responsible for the creation of class schedules and for all aspects of student enrolments RE-GENERATION - FULL DOME FILM FOR UN COP21 SUMMIT IN PARIS Job: Music, Sound Design, Voice Design, Mix and Mastering for 8-25 Channel Dome Surround Sound Info: A 30 minute Full Dome Film, Re-Generation was a poetic/philosophical music/video/voice narrative commissioned by the President of France Francois Hollande for the United Nations COP21 Climate Change Summit in Paris. The film was shown during 2 weeks of December at the Planetarium in Paris and 4 weeks in January at the SAT in Montreal SAT TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT Job: Show Technician Info: All aspects of setting up and tearing down event audio, video, lighting, and stage equipment SAT MIXSESSIONS Job: Music Director, Show Producer and DJ/Live Performer Info: MIXSESSIONS was a meeting point between digital cultures - a place for artists to explore and showcase their art in front of an audience. I was part of the production team and my responsibilities included receiving demos and booking artists (for weekly, monthly and special events), the creative and technical direction of each event, as well as performing at select events DOMAGAYA 400 TH ANNIVERSARY OF QUEBEC (SAT / DEPARTMENT OF INDIAN AND NORTHERN AFFAIRS CANADA) Job: Music Director, Music Composer/Producer and Live Performer Info: DOMAGAYA took place in the SAT s first inflatable Full Dome prototype (similar in size to the current permanent structure) in Quebec City in June/July It was a two-week encounter of Aboriginal Cultures and Digital Arts for the 400th anniversary of Quebec City. Every night we had different guest performers, with Komodo and I joining our guests on stage as host performers. I was responsible for the direction/production of all aspects of the events musical performances TECHNOPERA (SAT / OPERA DE MONTREAL) Job: Music Director, Music Composer/Producer and Live Performance Info: Over two years, the SAT and OPERA DE MONTREAL collaborated in making a TECHNOPERA version for each of their opera productions. I was part of the first TECHNOPERA production, a remake of Giacomo Puccini s Turandot, working with a soprano, a baritone and a team of visual artists. 2 / 12

12 BIOGRAPHY Owner of ONO Records and sub labels ONOMAR and ONOBOTS, Jan Pienkowski loves to create and share his unique blend of music and sounds. His music/electroacoustic/physics training and deep affection for house, techno, dub, world, classical and jazz bring a diverse palette of textures, grooves and acoustic spaces. While his studio work for labels, dance, film and video game projects grows in demand, Jan is equally at home behind the decks making people dance in clubs and festivals across the globe (Barcelona, Madrid, Mexico City, Hong Kong, Warsaw, Montreal ++). Back home in Montreal, Jan DJs in the best spots the city has to offer (SAT, Salon Daomé, Stereo Bar, Peopl/UN, Kanalbar) as well as making festival appearances for Mutek, Elektra, Black & Blue, MEG, Divers/Cité, Nuit Blanche. He has been a resident artist at the Société des arts technologiques [SAT] (one of the most unique digital art spaces in the world) for 15 years, producing and performing DJ/VJ/LIVE events and interdisciplinary immersive live shows as well as developing and teaching music production courses. Jan's constant quest for pushing the boundaries of electronic music and live performance has given him the chance of collaborating with the Opera of Montreal, to be the music and sound composer for the film RE- GENERATION commissioned for the UN COP21 Conference on Climate Change in Paris, the music director and performer in DOMAGAYA - an encounter of Aboriginal Cultures and Digital Arts for the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada during the 400th anniversary of Quebec City, as well as to be chosen by the British Council as the Canadian Representative for the Cultural Leadership International (CLI) initiative. 12 / 12
