2 SYNOPSIS Winding through woodlands and hills, a white road brings us to an isolated place a place that might be an alchemical laboratory. Here, in the comfort of suspended time, favoured by the silence and lightness of unspoiled nature, theatre is made in the summer. Luca Ronconi, maestro of the contemporary stage, has chosen Umbria for the creation of a space for young actors and actresses, where the most liberal short-circuits of theatre can be put into effect, freed from all conditioning and the pressure of productive deadlines. At Santacristina, in an old renovated barn where the times of the day and the night are marked by the sounding of a gong, we discover the maestro in the guise of the old man/young boy, delving into the parts and the voices as he seeks out the secret folds of the characters in a fascinating sounding-out of the scripts. With his white beard and penetrating gaze Ronconi is both wizard and maieute, and reveals himself as never before as he narrates his life and theatre in a state of grace that places him in the realm of the fairy-tale.

4 LUCA RONCONI Among the greatest directors of the 19th Century, inexhaustible preparator of prestigious great dramaturgic works, through his didactic he bred more than one generation of actors and directors. 5 JACOPO QUADRI UBULIBRI Author Producer Director Editor PAOLO BENZI OKTA FILM Co-producer has edited over 60 feature films and documentaries, which have been presented at the most prestigious international film festivals, and has received a number of important awards, including the Grand Jury Prize in Venice for Morte di un matematico napoletano by Mario Martone and the Golden Lion for Sacro GRA by Gianfranco Rosi. He has worked with Bernardo Bertolucci, Marco Bechis, Paolo Virzì, Zhang Yuan, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Francesca Archibugi and many others. Among the films he edited Vergine Giurata (2014), Il giovane favoloso (2014), Piccola Patria (2013), Io e te (2012), Noi credevamo (2010), Below sea level (2008), Little Red Flowers (2007), The dreamers (2003), Paz (2002), Garage Olimpo (1999), Ovosodo (1997) and L amore molesto (1995). He directed the documentary Saharawi, voci distanti dal mare (1997), La terra trema (1998) and Un posto al mondo (2000), the short film Marisa (2000) and the series of experimental films Statici ( ). He is currently president of the association Ubu per Franco Quadri, which every year hosts the Ubu Theatre Awards. In 2013 he founded Ubulibri srl, the ideal continuation of Edizioni Ubulibri. Currenlty he's directing, editing and producing the second feature lenght documentary of Ubulibri about the founder of the Odin Teatret, Eugenio Barba, Secret People of Odin. He s currently producing The Other Side by Roberto Minervini (in postproduction), Happy Time Will Come Soon by Alessandro Comodin (in development) and Alone Together by Paolo Santolini (in development). He is a 2009 Eurodoc Graduate. He was member of the following juries: Cinema Suisse Jury at the Vision du Réel, Nyon, 2011; and Best Central and Eastern European Documentary Film Jury at Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival in Since 2012 he s a head tutor for the programme Emerging Producers at Jihlava International Documentary Film.
