3 Page 3 of ARTISTIC DIRECTOR SHAKESPEARE ACADEMY at STRATFORD, Stratford, CT Conceived, designed, developed and implemented, from scratch, interdisciplinary, residential summer program for college students in Shakespeare and Contemporary Ensemble Theater Making. Designed curriculum and architecture for the 6-week program of classes and performances. Recruited and hired masterclass teachers and visiting artists; negotiated salaries and contracts. Selected and produced plays for inaugural season and 2nd season of two plays in rotating repertory; adapted and cut script; oversaw casting of both plays; directed Cymbeline, Henry V and advised on Hamlet. Mentored student assistant directors. Taught classes in Acting Shakespeare, Ensemble Theater-Making and Shakespeare s Language Led nation-wide student recruiting effort resulting in admittance of students from distinguished schools including Cambridge, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Stanford, Yale, Amherst, Brown, NYU/Tisch, GWU. Expanded recruiting in second year, tripling the number of applicants and resulting in an international ensemble from around the world. Designed creative materials, including website and logo ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION AMERICAN SHAKESPEARE CENTER, Staunton, VA Oversaw all operations of the Education Department; liaised, organized and implemented joint projects with other departments within the company as well as external: Teachers, Actors, Students, Schools, and other non-profit organizations. Taught workshops in Shakespeare s Language and Shakespeare s Theaters to all ages of learners. Led educational tours of the Blackfriars Playhouse. Organized and managed team of 40+ graduate student volunteers to run Blackfriars Scholars Conference. For the Young Company, adapted and directed Pericles and The Winter s Tale, taught classes in Acting Shakespeare, assisted in running of two 3-week residential programs.
