1 Newsletter Archives 2009 January Community Newsletter January 2009 Miles the Monster Gets WET at Victory Plaza Monster Monument at Victory Plaza, presented by AAA, Photo provided by: Dolores Michels Dover, DE Dover International Speedway s recently completed Victory Plaza is home to Miles the Monster, NASCAR s most enduring mascot and one of the world s tallest fiberglass structures. Towering some five stories above the Speedway s famed Monster Mile, the statue s glowing red eyes and menacing grin preside over the many ceremonies and dedications at the Plaza. Powerful sound surrounding Miles is provided by Community WET Series loudspeakers the only loudspeakers powerful enough to deliver over the roar of dozens of stock cars and thousands of fans. 2 The MX41E is a compact, versatile two way bass reflex floor monitor engineered to deliver powerful, full range performance. Available in 90 x 40 (MX41E 94) or 60 x 40 (MX41E 64) degree coverage patterns, the MX41E is voiced for live performance use, providing balanced, full range musical performance with outstanding vocal range and powerful, focused coverage. Both models feature rotatable horns for narrower horizontal coverage and angled backs allowing 30 or 45 degree angles. The MX41E is available in black, white and unfinished versions and includes Community s Ferrofluidcooled LF driver technology, solid birch plywood construction, 16 gauge perforated powder coated steel grille, heavy duty steel handles, solid steel input panel with Passive/Bi amp switch, and proquality Neutrik input connectors. MX41E monitors are also protected by Community s PowerSense driver protection circuitry, and covered by Community s exclusive five year warranty. Princeton Cuts through the Ivy League The historic campus of Princeton University has become a model for high profile audio system projects featuring Community R Series loudspeakers. Last year kicked off with new audio for Princeton s Hoby Baker ice rink, home to the Tigers men s hockey team. The rink was fitted with a scoreboard mounted center cluster of four R1 full range, two way systems. The newly built Roberts Stadium, home to the school s soccer teams, was next with a system comprised of two R1 and thirteen R.5 medium throw systems. The most recent audio makeover was for Princeton s Class of 1952 Lacrosse Stadium. The much loved venue had a long history of poor sound coverage. Now two Community R6 multi driver, vertical array systems provide phenomenal coverage on and across the field. In addition six R.5 systems provide near fill and cover areas under the bleachers, while CLOUD6 ceiling speakers are installed in the team rooms. Games can now be heard quite some distance away! 3 The I/O5 and I/O8 loudspeakers from Community are low profile, compact molded enclosures outfitted with weather resistant polypropylene woofer cones and corrosion resistant steel grilles. The full range design provides high power handling, high sensitivity, wide dynamic range capability and realistic sound reproduction over their full operating spectrum. Both models are available with built in low loss transformers (models I/O5T and I/O8T), and are elegantly styled in black or white finishes. Installation is simple using the included multi angle wall mounting bracket, which enables positioning the enclosure in exactly the right orientation for optimum performance. With dynamic, natural sound quality and excellent intelligibility, the I/O5 and I/O8 are the perfect choice for audio professionals who are looking for compact, high performance loudspeakers for a wide variety of applications, including small clubs, karaoke, playback systems, and monitoring. Chadron State Shoots for Excellence 2008 Community Rep Awards Chadron State College s athletic facilities have been long awaiting an updated sound system for the school s Softball Field and Don Beebe Stadium at Elliot Field. The antiquated 40 year old horn systems were replaced with only the best from Community R Series loudspeakers. Four R.25 full range two way loudspeakers were used to cover the bleacher seating, and a pair of R1 94 long throw systems covers the end zones. A vertical array was created with four R.5 subwoofers and an R.5HP on a custom bracket, keeping the SPL in the bleachers under control, while still filling in the entire field. The softball field was equipped with just three R.5COAX two way systems to cover the stands and playing field. The school is thrilled with the improvements.
