3 I can t believe I ve been fortunate enough to record an album that has always been a dream 1 Till the End of Time of mine to make. Not only is this my first official album, but it s the first time that I ve recorded in this genre. Recording this album brought back so many wonderful memories of my Spanish/Latino upbringing. I can t wait to share the music I wrote for this album as well as some of the songs I used to sing while growing up. To my wonderfully loyal Whistlers, I hope you enjoy the re-worked originals and I thank you for being part of my journey and for supporting me right from the very beginning. Luv you all heaps Ads This was the first Latin song I ever wrote. Written in the summer of 1999, it appeared on the many demos I sent out so I am glad it finally has the chance to appear as an album track. 4 2 Ain t That the Way (rumba española mix) I wrote this song for my independently released album, Showstopper. Although it originally had a funky pop feel, I really enjoyed arranging and singing it in a Spanish Rumba style. For this version I pushed the arrangement a little further south by giving it a slight Tango/Samba groove. When I used to go to the Spanish Club as a child there d be Latin music videos playing on a huge projector screen. There was this one song in particular. I thought to myself, when I grow up, I m going to learn that song and record it on a vinyl record. So here I am! Well, apart from the vinyl record thing 5 Baila Baila This one was written about a year after Till the End of Time. I d made various demo versions of this song some dance club versions and also a couple in more traditional Latin styles. For this album, I decided to try to do a mixture of both while still staying true to the album s overall feel. In the end I went with English. A very typical Latino song. I have so many recordings of this piece, performed by as many different artists. The lyrics are so descriptive and beautiful. I m totally in love with the Montuno piano parts as well as the groovy vocal quartet parts throughout. 8 Careless Whisper Words and music by George Michael & Andrew Ridgeley. Spanish words by Adam Lopez. I ve always wanted to sing this song! I knew that being such a popular song it would be a challenge to arrange it for this album while keeping the integrity and beauty of the original. I hope you all (especially you, George Michael!) enjoy my rendition. 9 Fantasy Words and music by Maurice White, Verdine White & Eduardo Del Barrio. I wanted to sing so many Earth, Wind & Fire songs on this album that it was difficult deciding on just one! Fantasy seemed to fit perfectly once converted to a New Age bossa nova. 10 Bésame mucho Words and music by Consuelo Velázquez. English words by Sunny Skylar. Arranged by Adam Lopez. I chose this song because of its beautiful melody and chord changes. Also, the lyrics are very sensual and passionate, which is not only typical of Spanish/Latin music, it s a prerequisite! 8 9

6 11 Amor anónimo During production of this album I wrote this, thinking it would work well with the intended genre in the style of a Spanish Rumba. Initially I d written the lyrics in English and it was titled Anonymous Love, but I found the song worked better in Spanish. Spanish words by Jesus Maria Arozamena Berasategui after the original Portuguese words by Antônio Maria. Music by Luiz Bonfá. I recorded an R&B version of this song in the late 1990s for one of my demos I think I ve lost that recording on purpose! This song uses the same melody as Manhã de Carnaval but with completely new English words by Carl Sigman. 13 O sole mio Words by Giovanni Capurro. Music by Eduardo Di Capua. I ve sung this beautiful Italian song many times and in many different ways. I ve always loved the concept of popping-up classical songs and bringing them to audiences that may not have initially appreciated classical music. 14 Stay with Me I really enjoyed writing this song, and it has become a favourite to perform because I have been able to arrange it in many different styles.
