1 CEDAR TREE CLASSICAL CHRISTIAN SCHOOL HYMNS

2 Welcome to the Cedar Tree Hymnal! We urge everyone to get to know these carefully selected hymns. They intentionally represent a variety of eras, authors, composers, genres, and styles. Each of these hymns are ones which every Cedar Tree graduate should be intimately familiar with in order to be conversant with our rich heritage of Christian hymnody and to treasure it. In singing each of these hymns we are sharing the wonderful insights and music with the Church of past ages in its praise to God through songs of worship that have remarkably stood the test of time, spanning the centuries. Musical notation is included because we desire our students to become familiar with reading music and to enjoy the beauty of harmony. You will note the lyricist in the upper left and the tune composer in the upper right of each page. The selections in this hymnal are arranged in the chronological order in which their text was composed, beginning with the Psalms. Everything included is within public domain, and there is a list of tunes and sources on page 41. An alphabetical index is found on the last page.
