54 RESINS FOR EECTRICA USE EPOXY RESINS Epoxy resins offer good electrical insulating properties combined with superior mechanical protection. They are used as primary insulation for low voltage joints in combination with two half shells as well as providing mechanical protection for MV taped resin joints. They have good adhesion properties to cable outer sheaths as well as metals, like copper, aluminium and lead. The two component resin is supplied in a two chamber mixing bag. POYURETHANE RESINS PUR resins are used in both V and MV jointing applications, due to their versatile characteristics. Design dependent hardness, they all have extremely good hydrophobic properties. Used as insulating material in V cast resin joints and in MV taped joints, due to excellent adhesion to all kinds of cable jacket materials and metals. During curing the PUR resins develop lower heat generation when compared with epoxy. Supplied in two chamber resin bags, or buckets for larger quantities to be mixed with spatula. POYBUTADIENE RESINS The polybutadiene resins have excellent electrical properties. They are used as primary insulation in low voltage joints. They have good adhesion properties on cable outer sheaths and metals, like copper, aluminium and lead. The joint is easily reaccessible and has no hazard labelling. The two component polybutdiene resin is supplied in mixer pack. REACH The NEXANS resins do not contain products included in the SVHC list (REACH regulations).
