1 Sicherheitsvorschriften Operate the system so it will not be able to vibrate - in a dust-free, dry environment - in such a manner that it is protected from moisture, fumes, splashing water and dampness - somewhere protected from direct sunlight - not within the immediate vicinity of heat sources - in an ambient temperature of the cassette of 0 C to +50 C (max. ambient temperature of the head-end station +30 C). In case of the formation of condensation wait until the system is completely dried. The cassette slot directly on the right of a PSMS 1000 must always remain free. Ensure that the head-end station is adequately ventilated. Do not cover the ventilation slots! If additional fans are to be used to circulate the air, ensure that the system will be shut down (disconnected from mains) should any one of the fans fail. Do not place any vessels containing liquids on the head-end station. Do not place anything on the head-end station which could initiate fires (e.g. candles). No liability is accepted for damage caused by faulty connections or inappropriate handling of the device. 1.1 Decl ar ation concerning copyrights The PSMS 1000 is intended for the record/playback of TV picture and sound signals ("Materials"). The use must be taken place in conformance with applicable laws, license agreements or service agreements under which you have obtained access to such Materials. Any other use is expressly prohibited. It is Your responsibility to comply with, and you agree to be bound by, all such applicable laws and agreements. Unauthorized recording, copying, streaming of copyrighted material, or providing copies of such material to others, may infringe the rights of copyright owners and may also be a criminal offence in some jurisdictions. 6 2.3 System requirements For the distribution of the IPTV streams a IGMP complient layer 3 switch as well as a GBit LAN network is required. In order to avoid restrictions of the network data rate (and therefore possible disturbances) we recommend to operate other applications like e.g. Internet, VOIP telephony etc. in separated networks. Please note that the quality of the output signal depends on the quality of the input signal. The cassette is intended for use in the PROFI-LINE head-end stations. We recommend the use in combination with the Extension Unit PST The ambient temperature of the head-end station/cassette must not exceed 30 C/50 C. The compliance of the ambient temperature must be ensured by e.g. ventilation or air conditioning. An overheating of the processor core results in switching off the cassette. At overheating the server is switched off. In this case reduce the ambient temperature using adequate measures. To start the server again after cooling down, the power supply must be disconnected for a short time. Before the head-end station will be switched off stop the server via the graphical user interface (GUI) using button in order to end running processes. Stoppt den Server Stops the server We recommend the use of an UPS especially in regions with unstable power supply! Operating Instructions PSMS 1000
2.4 Description The cassette is a streaming server and can be modified by different software applications. The key component is the centralized management of connected IP-SetTop boxes (IP-STB) done by the GSS middleware. Using the Graphical User Interface e.g. channel lists as well as the management of the IP-STBs can be done intuitively. Via FTP access video files (exclusively "single program transport stream" format.ts) can be copied to the server. So the cassette is ideal to utilise at cable head-end stations to fed in info channels. In addition recording is possible. Record and playback are independent of one another and simultaneously possible. The cassette is equipped with two slots for 2.5" SATA II HDDs/SSDs. Each one LED indicates the operating state of the hard disk drives. LED indicator lights continuously blinking off Indication hard disk drive ready writing/reading no hard disk drive fitted Operating Instructions PSMS 1000

3 Operation via the Graphical User Inter face Notes on IP addresses In order to operate the cassette integrated in a network, a hardware IP address must be assigned to each LAN interface. > These settings were done during the system configuration in menu "Networking" (Assembling instruction). IPTV IP adresses ("digital transmission channels") must be assigned to the IPTV streams. > Two IP address ranges are used: "Hardware" IP addresses, which are used to connect the cassettes in the network (e.g x). These IP addresses must be within the "private" range from , resp "IPTV" IP addresses, which are used to transmit the IPTV transport streams (e.g x). These IP addresses must be within the "multicast" range from Notes on port set ting For an IPTV connection also a port setting is necessary. > At IPTV streaming "transmitter" and "receiver" must be set to the same port. By default GSS IPTV cassettes as well as Amino-STBs are set to port Change this port only if additional "external" components are used which can not be set to port Operating Instructions PSMS 1000
Tips to keep the overview! The whole video signal distribution takes place via IPTV transport streams. For a clear identification an IPTV IP address ("digital transmission channel") must be assigned to each transport stream! > Note down all assigned IP addresses, in order to keep the overview! In annex A of the Assembling instruction therefore you find a table which you can print out. Two groups of IPT V tr ansport strea ms You will have two groups of IPTV transport streams at the server: Incoming IPTV transport streams, which are streamed by the source devices (e.g. PHIS 1000 S). Outgoing IPTV transport streams, which are streamed by the server. > For a better overview we recommend to use different IPTV IP address ranges (within the multicast range) for both groups. > Within this instruction e.g. we use IP addresses for incoming IPTV transport streams starting with "227". For outgoing streams we use IP addresses starting with "239" (see page 8). Which group appears in which menu? Incoming IPTV transport streams are processed in Menus: Multimedia > Record in order to record channels streamed by the source devices. IPTV CMS > Channels in order to assign the channel setup to the connected Amino-STBs. Outgoing IPTV transport streams are processed in Menus: Multimedia > Playout in order to stream e.g. records and advertising / information trailers. IPTV CMS > Channels in order to assign the channel setup of records/trailers to the connected Amino-STBs Operating Instructions PSMS 1000
FTP Access Via commercially available FTP applications (also freeware) you can get access to the content of the hard disk drives and e.g. copy data (information videos) on it.
