The synchronization function allows signals to be sent from third party devices or any Noraxon EMG device with wireless sync out capabilities and received by the Noraxon EMG device. The synchronization pulse is sent wirelessly to the Wireless Sync Receiver, which is connected to the sync channel of the TeleMyo G2 system or DTS Belt Receiver. The Inline Wireless Sync Receiver can be used to receive a pulse meant as a sync pulse or pulse meant as a marker to signal specific events or times in the record. Intended Use The Wireless Sync Receiver is intended to allow the signal(s) from the Noraxon EMG device to be synchronized with signals from other Noraxon devices or third party systems. Contraindications None P-2348 Rev A (Dec 2013) 1

The instrument is not protected against the ingress of water and carries no IPX rating (i.e. is ordinary equipment). The Wireless Sync Receiver is not waterproof. Care must be taken to avoid exposure to all liquids. Heavy perspiration may present problems if the Wireless Sync Receiver is secured to bare skin with an over wrap of tape or elastic belting. In such cases it is advisable to first add adsorptive material or cloth over the Wireless Sync Receiver before covering the sensor with tape or elastic bands. P-2348 Rev A (Dec 2013) 17
22 Section 17: Technical Information Block Diagram Model 234 Inline Wireless Sync Receiver Coming Soon Theory of Operation The Inline Wireless Sync Receiver Sensor is designed to capture a pulse sent wirelessly and transmit that pulse to the attached Noraxon EMG transmitter via a sync port. The sync signals are then recorded using MyoResearch XP or MR3 and used to start a recording or set markers for later interpretation. The Inline Wireless Sync Receiver does not use any batteries because it is powered by the Noraxon EMG system it is attached to. P-2348 Rev A (Dec 2013) 18
23 Section 18: Appendices Appendix A Wireless Sync Applications Wireless Marker Scheme The most common application for the Compact Wireless Sync System is as a wireless marker. The wireless sync system allows an external system, e.g. motion capture, external trigger device, force plate, to set a common marker in all of the data acquisition systems. This means that at a point in time, a marker is simultaneously set in the TeleMyo 2400T G2 or TeleMyo Belt Receiver and in the externall system, e.g. motion capture. This information can be used later when the data is analyzed. Note: The maximum value the Inline Wireless Sync Receiver provides is 3.3V. Common Start Time Another common application is to start all the systems at the same time. With all the systems in monitoring mode, the common trigger will be sent to all the systems at the same time to start recording. MyoResearch XP: The trigger start time is set up using the option Recording Options in the Meas. Options menu (Figure 1). After choosing Recording Options, select Continuous Recording and click on the Triggering tab (Figure 2). In this screen, select the proper trigger channel (The sync port on the TeleMyo 2400T G2 is channel 11 for a 4 or 8 channel unit or channel 19 for a 12 or 16 channel unit.) and when MyoResearch XP should start recording, e.g. when the marker channel rises above 2V. For Longer Than, choose the number of ms the signal needs to be on before MyoResearch XP decides it is the start recording trigger. You can also set a stop recording point or limit how long you want to record after you start recording. Figure 1: Recording Options Figure 2: Triggering MR3: The trigger start time is set up using the Recordingg Options in the Measurement Configurations Screen (Figure 3). Under Recoding Options you can select a start trigger which can be set to begin a recording when the value or a specified channel is chosen to rise or fall above a certain value (Figure 4) ). The recording can be set to record for a certain length of time, or to record until the specified end trigger value is met. The end triggerr has the same customizable parameters as the start trigger. P-2348 Rev A (Dec 2013) 19
24 Figure 3: Measurement Configuration Screen Inline Wireless Sync Receiver Figure 4: Recording Options screen Synchronization As discussed previously in this manual, the Inline Wireless Sync Receiver can be used to synchronize the attached Noraxon EMG device with other Noraxon devices (in MR3) or third party products. However Wireless Sync Receiver is used, it will need to receiver a wireless sync signal from one of the capable Noraxon devices. P-2348 Rev A (Dec 2013) 20
